card cutting video.
« on: March 14, 2010, 01:31:58 PM »
I went back out tonight set up the video camera and cut a card. Was shooting Hunter sport with nitro piston GRT 3 trigger Leapers Tactedge scope and JSB diablo 8.4 gr pellets. Shot from 35 ft off my weight bench.

This is actually the 2nd card of the day. The first one I hit 3 out of 5 times tearing it most of the way across each time but could not cut it clean. So set up a new one and SHAZAM! 1st shot cut it clean. Here is the link to the video. Enjoy!

DJ, you made it look too easy.   Very good shot.    Can you think of how to make the shot more difficult??   I am going to attempt it at 40 to 45 feet when conditions permit.
Was going to try yesterday afternoon but guests arrived without notice and would not leave until after dark.
Looks like you have had some practice shooting smaller and smaller targets.

35 ft is all the farther I can back up unless I go down to the swamp. And still at 35 ft the cross hairs completely cover the card, backing up will definatly make it more impressive. Good luck. for my next one  I will try to shoot matches out to 30 yds next time I get down to the swamp. Paintballs at that range are almost every shot . I was looking at folding shooting rests but the ones I found are expensive so will stick with the lawn chair for now. I also found the perfect use for Gamo pellets! Sit them on a tooth pick and they are perfect targets.

I was thinking of trying the old split the bullet in 2 with a metal ruler. I figure If I can hit it like the card it should be pretty cut and dry. Hopefully.

Always trying to find something better to do. Me and my dad are always competeing so I gotta come up with some good stuff. And every time I tell him what I did he laughs and tells me to keep practicing. Last time we tied he suggested we do timed drills. Its amazing how much somebody standing there counting messes you up. Then he shot and spanked me like it was nothing and just looked at me and smiled after he went 10 for 10 on the targets in the aloted time. I wanted to run down and kick all the targets over. lol Its not fare how a 62 yr old retired Marine can kick my 34 yr old active duty but at everything! I will keep trying.

Nice shooting Dj! How about trying to light a non safety match but just grazing it on the edge!!

I've  actually been looking for strike anywhere matches for other reasons but can't find them. Anybody have any idea where I can get my hands on them?
