Live Decoys
« on: March 15, 2010, 10:13:21 AM »
Hey, sorry, no pics, but after a dry spell, I've had some starling action. I think it's due to putting corn out that the now prevalent grackles love. They come in 6-10 at a time now, and that brings starlings. So, I put some dog food out and even more starlings came in.

One other trick, too, is that I moved my bait zone, which seems to make them feel safer.

Anyway, it's working. Try to bait other birds in to make the starlings comfortable, if you're not getting any into your bait station.

On the kill front, I got three today and I was busy doing other stuff. I had one miss. I'm shooting at about 56'.

The BC shooting .177 Crow Mags is something else. I hit one from behind and the pellet entered left side, rear, passed through his body, literally blew apart the joint of the wing and either sent bone or pellet or pieces of both into the side of his head. D-E-A-D, dead.

No zombie starlings for me.
