As I went out to the shop this morning I saw my first Cardinal of the new year. That says spring is around the corner.. And my dog got her first kill of the year.. She got a groundhog. Boy was she a mess. Her nose was dirt brown and she was covered in dirt. But she got what she was digging for...

Good dog there Gene! Seems like you have said what kind it was but I don't remember. Cardinals up here all year , 2 pairs around me ( one male is tailless I noticed yesterday , Cat?)

Saw a teenage Cardinal last week....red head but still have a brown body.  I know the full grown males are all red and the females are all brown.   Saw a bunch of Starlings in the backyard also....first time this year....I gave them a pass.
