Anyone into tattoos???
« on: April 14, 2007, 02:57:28 AM »
I've got em ALL OVER my body. It's been an addiction since I was in the service.
I traded some tuning & fab work on a guys custom chopper in exchange for him to scratch on me for a bit.

This was done yesterday, Friday the 13th of all days  8) and took 4 and a half hours STRAIGHT.  It's a COMPLETE reline of an outline that I already had, but the original artist couldn't finish. Originally it was fine line, but I had my new artist fatten the lines and add shading. Next sitting I'm going to have him float in the colors and add a bit more water shading. THEN, as time progresses the background will be added.

SO, tell me whatcha think!

I think it's awesome.   Isn't something that large rather painful?  Especially sitting in a chair or lying down??

I have to admit, I always wanted to get a tattoo but chickened out every time.  Closest I ever came was when I was in the service,, made it all the way to the parlor and in the seat, but wound up changing my mind again.

Anyway, cool looking tat.

Thanks!

OOOoooh yeah....VERY Large and moderately painful. Straddling a dentists chair BACKWARDS was actually the most unconfortable part about it. I've got bad knees and they get stiff after a while. Otherwise, the shop was filled with all kinds on interesting people comming in to talk to me, watch and what not. Kept my mind off the sting!

My artist has a stripper pole in the shop and some chick just came in off the street to look at his portfolio. After about 20 minutes, she started to get to know that pole real good!!!!  :D

Hay Sam,

That's the best Chinese Dragon I have ever seem ! Your not Cocoruki, are you ? LOL

For real, that's the very best !

I too have been at the parlor twice, I wanted a screaming eagle on my left arm and a black panther on my right. Never made it to the seat, I saw ugly, tough men crying and bleeding all over, I went BLUBLUBBBbbbbbbb, and cut and ran, both times !

I told myself that, I did myself a favor ! If ever captured, there might be a Hanoi Jane, wanting to cut them off ! So no tats for Bill.

But that's a GREAT DRAGON !!! and I have seen many DRAGONS !

Thanks Bill! No, I'm not Cocoruki, but I've got a good Cocoruki Bolo that I got in the Phillipines!!!
I'm actually more mixed than a junk yard mutt. Mom is Chinese & Fillipino and Dad was half Czeck and Onondaga.

I've seen big tough guys cryin in the chair too. Just shows that the'r tolerance for pain ain't that high! It really isn't that bad at all. If you can control yourself and focus on something OTHER than the needle popping though you skin thousands of times a minute, you can pretty much block out anything you want. A little conversation also helps!

EDIT: I noticed you Didn't say Kukri, but Cocoruki... What's a Cocoruki???

Yikesssssssssssssssssssss, Sam....... hehe........ One good looking Dragon you gots there.. and it looks festered up as well.. ouch!

I was kinda like Jeff....:) But I never even made it to a tatoo parlor in my years in the service... I had thoughts in my younger years of a tatoo of two pigs getting it on put on my back.. With a bi line..." Makin Bakin".... but decided it would not look good at the beach or in a public pool.. hehe

Well Sam,

I'm not sure if the spelling is correct, caus Gene's Spell Checker doesn't do Japanese, but they are members of the Black Dragon Society, and as members, all have a dragon tattooed on there shoulder.

Co-Co-Ru-Ki sounds like that ?

The Dragon tattoo brings then power and strength !

Nice art! Better than a lot I've seen. Looks very traditional. Should be awesome with some color. My wife's Japanese, so we watched lots of classic Samuri movies with similar tats on the actors back in the dark ages.

OOoooooooh...OK, NOW I know what you're talkin about! Kokuryukai (Co-Co-Roo-Kai)  is the correct spelling. I lived in Japan for about 2 years and my girlfriend at the time taught me about Japanese history, and that is sort of what my tatoo symbolizes (the strength/power part) as well as a few other things.

At first I thought you were talking about the Ghurka and I thought to myself  "The Ghurka don't have tattoos???"

Right on! Thanks!!!  I'm going to wait about a month before I have any more work on it done. After that, I'm not sure if I wanna start on the Color or the outline work on the Background. Still tossing ideas around as well. But when it's done, it'll be an open front,  short sleeve shirt.
