Thats what I did to 3 of my rifles. My 440 and 89 I cut at 12.5 inches, the Mendosa barrel's bore opened up at 10.25 inches and I cut a quarter inch past that. Recrowned all 3 with electric drill using dremel type stone dipped in valve grinding compound and then brass round head screw with same compound. Very happy with results. 89's a bear to cock now.
