Shooting bench

Thanks to the help from others who posted pic of this bench i was able to get it built before the rain. Now when the weather breaks i look forward to getting some shooting in and adjusting scopes on my rifles.
Will post photos when i can get them reduced or figure out the best way to post photos. Looking foward to learning alot more about airguns. Just purchased a px4 pistol also on the wish list is the Hammeril 850,
and a Discovery

Welcome to the forum Bruce. There is a link to a site that will reduce your photos at the top of the Library page. It works great. Here is a direct link. http://www.photosize.com/   Once you get them resized, when you are ready to post, check the "attach a file after posting" box at the bottom and hit submit. you will go to a page where you can add all the photos you want. Microsoft has a resizer program:  http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx
 a few other useful small programs here also... When you load in the resizer program, you just right click on a photo in "My Pictures" and a menu drops down and you will see resize on it. Then you have a choice of sizes at which it resaves it at the new size and your original photo is still there along side it...  simple to use and  don't have to go anywhere else....

Yea i think i got it from parts  both of there post . This site is a wealth of information . looking forward to learning to mod some of the guns i have .  think i am going to start with either the varmint hunter or the Gamo hunter 880. Have a small lathe but access to full machine shop if needed.

Add a u-bolt in the side and a patio umbrella, a rifle rest, and a cup holder, then you are all set!  Nice job.  Hope you find the bench makes shooting even more fun.

Does straddling the center post bother you at all?

I built the same bench, following T-Cups directions, and I find it very comfortable.  I'm right handed and what I do when I sit down is swing my right leg over the center support  board,, I just find it more comfortable that way and it lets me easily adjust the angle of my body when I'm shooting....  

I think it's a great design Tommy came up with  :)  When I head up to my summer place in the Catskills next month to open the place up I plan building the same one up there and leaving it there so I can use it for my target shooting when I'm vacationing  :)

Nice lookin bench.  Pressure treated wood is expensive but at least it will last.

I would have used Trex decking for the top and seat so you don't get any splinters and can wipe it dry after it rains.

Never thought about using Trex for the seat ,some of this one is new wood and some leftover from other project . Fixing to do a small lower deck ,might just get a extra stick of trex and redo the seat part. used it yesterday and really enjoyed shooting from it . I believe i will be going through a lot of pellets this year

Josh,,,, the cost for all the materials to build the bench only came to $70 including tax.  For such a sturdy, well designed bench that will last for many years to come I thought that was a great price  :)

AS for the "trex".....  that is a good idea, I never thought of that either....

I really like the bench you came up with Jeff but as age sets in, I find that my scrotums get in the way. I really have to be carefully these days when I sit down or I will sit on my parts,,,Ouch!!! I need a chair or bench where the seat is open in the front. That way everything is free to hang around. I wonder if other older men have this same problem?
