First Kill with the NPSS
« on: March 26, 2010, 01:32:43 PM »
So i havent been an avid airgunner sense i was a kid with a Benji pump. I live in a pretty populated area and started having some pest problems, rats eating at the wood of my house and creeping into the crawl space. So i picked up a Crossman 1377 figuring it was cheap and fun and would take care of the pest problem. Well the sights are horrible and my skills are not top notch anymore (use to be able to shoot pencile erasers off at 20 yrd with the Benji). I was hitting them but could get clean kill shots. So i found the forum and some great folks here to get advice on a new rig. I ended up with a Crossman NPSS in .177, good price, nice stock and Gene's great review. It is supposed to be quiet too. What with one thing and another i havent gotten to sight it in till last night. Tonight i put out a little bait and hung out of my upstairs bedroom window. Like clockwork a cat sized rat came looking for a free lunch. Deep breath....let half out.....smooth motion on the trigger and WHAM my first dead rat. Just behind the head!! I cant believe how accurate this damn thing is!!! Is it wrong i feel like a kid again.... So, rebuild my Benji (and by me i mean a trained, qualified pro...maybe someone on the forums knows the old ones that might be able to lend a hand??), turn my 1377 into a project gun and make it something really fun, send the NPSS to Gene for his magic.. and start tinking of what to put on MY short list...... That was way too much fun!
Benji Silver Streak, Crosman 1377 and the New Crosman NPSS!

Congrates on the Rat kill.

And no it's not wrong to feel like a kid again. Most of us are here because we feel like kids. Some like a kid again, ... and some  never grew up at all !!! :D

Agreed, Tim at Mac1 is the man for the Benjamin-Sheridan pumpers. You don't have to go the whole steroid route if you just want it put back to spec (it will still be better than new).

You obviously need a 4th gun to hold you over while your Benji gets fixed, the 1377 gets upgraded, and the NPSS is at the tuner's. You might look at the MM tuned B26, maybe the best value in all of airgunning. It should show up ready to rock while the others are in the shop.

And next thing you know, you'll be like the rest of us, and wonder where all these darn things came from!

Good shooting.  It's a lot of fun shooting big rats.  I used to do it with .22 rimfire at a transfer station.

You had 2 guns and you 're well on your way to doubling that number - only 1 away from 4..  we speak from experience :)   Just look at some people's signatures.  We all started with 1 or 2, hehe.
Springers:
