Just finished my first mods on the Talon SS
« on: April 20, 2007, 05:00:53 PM »
I got bored at home. The wife had our daughter at her moms house for a visit and I had a brain fart.

I just finished drilling the front barrel bushing & lower part of the frame under the forearm. I also added a 1" diameter spring, 5 Connical Delrin Spacers that I spun up real quick and a few O-Rings to seperate the spacers. This is to create Chambers in the empty space of the barrel shroud, effectivly turning it into a "Lead Dust Collector" according to the Talon Owners Group forums.

I have to say, it collects Lead Dust very well. An interesting side effect is that it quiets the rifle down a bunch too :D

Hay Sam,

When you get bored, boy you get things done ! I guess you have a lathe, and it looks as if you have experience with it, very nice job there Sam.

Now that tip on the lead catcher, does it screw on ? If not it sure makes that fancy shooter look mean :)

And how much lead catch Sam, a lot or a little ? It will sure help keep that nasty lead dust down when shootin indoors. ;)

Keep up the GOOD work Sam !!!

P.S. Thanks for the photos Sam, helps to see what you mind is trying to put together !! hehe.....he

Bill, I try!

The Muzzle break slips in and gets held in with a grub screw that the factory end cap was held in with.
The collector picks up a pretty good amount of lead dust . Makes for nice indoor shooting.

Went over to my brother-in-laws house today and did some shooting at our homemade range. Shoots pretty nice groups! I was surprised as hell when I did this!!!

Thanks Ed!

Now if I can just get the Starlings & Squirrels to come back! No rabbits around where I shoot though. The neighbor took care of those a couple years ago.

WOW Sam ,

That's an outstanding group there ! Nice lead catcher and Talon SS also.

To bad about the critters in your area though, that Talon could be fun on movin targets. ;)
