An update on my BAM B26-2 "Falcon" stock after applying the first coat

A veteran wood craftsmen and a fellow airgunner from another forum gave me an advice to keep the color of the stock and use a 50/50 mixture of shellac and Boiled Linseed Oil. Testing it first on some spare solid wood that I have both the linseed oil and the shellac coat really helps to accentuate the natural woodgrain of the wood so with this small confidence I decided to apply the first coat. See for yourself the effect:

I'll let it dry overnight then I'll observe how the wood reacted to the mixture and probably apply another coat again. But first I need to check it with Mr. Heywood again for further instruction.

Mate that looks great...
would like to try something like that myself...
But I'm no woody type...Nar think I will stick to the
steel bit...Would be safer & cheaper in the long run...

I have used two B26-2 stocks on other guns. The Mystery wood can look good, and I like the grain on yours.

Don't stop now, keep cutting, you'll find the stock under all that excess wood, LOL.

Thanks. I'm done with this project. Applied 3 additional coats of boiled linseed oil and that's it. I like the semi-light maple color that came out from the wood after reacting to the shellac. I won't make it shiny, just the semi satin type of shine. Right now I'm just waiting for some custom parts to arrive and then it will all be finally assembled for some nice paper punching and occasional hunting again.

I'm really bitten by both fangs with this stock modding thing and I'm enjoying it. Hey, I saw what you did on your PCP stock and that is one fine gunstock work you did back there. Awesome!
