Shadow Express Tests
« on: April 09, 2010, 03:39:41 PM »
Did some experiments today.
Factory ammo does indeed shoot to 6" at 30'.  .25 2mm foam wads front and back shoot 12" at 30'. .25 2mm foam (rear only) shot straight up at 30' yielded 1.5" pattern !!!!
So began determining the minimal wad that will hold the shot column in place and self destruct (preferably vaporize) at the muzzle. As you might guess, it is hard to approach that. However, a 1.25" x1.25" piece of Puffs plus, peeled into single layers, one of which is then compressed into a front wad such that it wants to open and flare  upon release allows the shot column to pass through and yielded 2.5" at 30". I was stoked. Head shot on a pigeon on the ground at 40' smoked him. Didn't even spread his wings.
I'm gonna play with shot sizes and payload weights next.
This thing is a gas.
