51st Squirrel (Graphic)
« on: April 23, 2007, 09:34:42 AM »
I had just finished my french homework and really needed a break when it all happened.  It was a beautiful day outside about 80 with a small wind.  I had walked around the inside of my house checking all the windows for squirrels and didn't see a single one.  How disappointing after that homework I really wanted to nail something.  As I walked out into my garage I couldn't believe my eyes, there was a squirrel running straight toward my range.  Now I was in luck but I wasn't about to let the excitement mess me up.  I quickly grabbed a sand bag and laid it down on the hood of my truck.  The little nutter had decided to climb way up the tree that I have my backstop leaning against.  I put my scope on 9 power and settled down nice and solid, checking to make sure that I had my gun nice and level.  The wind was blowing pretty hard at the time and I wasn't about to risk a miss so I waited.  After about 2 or 3 minutes it died down for a minute.  I centered the crosshairs on his head and began gently squeezing the trigger.  Bang!  Thud!  It was a direct hit square in the side of his head and down he came.  I quickly reloaded half expecting the tough little thing to jump up and make a run for it but he didn’t what a relief!

Brian,

I do the same thing you do.  When I am home I check all the windows periodically for squirrels.  If the weather is at all decent, I leave two windows up, the ones that give me the best shot at the squirrels.  I am glad to know someone else has the same habits as I do.
