Muzzle break on the 350!
« on: April 12, 2010, 02:41:52 PM »
I got my muzzle break today from Mr. Jberenyl and thank you sir very much. It is a nice looking break and the perfect addition. Got rid of that GIANT front sight that I could see in all 3 scope that have been on this rifle. I had to do a fare amount of fileing to get the dove tail off that RWS put in the barrel. Looks like they just stick it in a maching that pinches the front sight mount grooves in the barrel. Once they were gone it slide into place perfectly. Took it off cleaned everything and added a little sealer so no rust or anything starts in between the metals adn reinstalled it. Lock tighted the screw and man oh man does it look better! Will take it down to the swamp tomorrow. I am supposed to get the JSB 10.2 gr pellets tomorrow also. Will see what those do and how they group. Thanks again Jberenyl.

I like the look! Wish I lived near a swamp. Say goodbye to a few turtles for me.

The muzzle break was used by another member that was willing to sell it so was very inexpensive. If you can find one I recommend it. That front site was driving me crazy and got in the way when cocking. Was always worried about messing it up.

Can't wait to get off work and head for the swamp. Will say hello and good by to many things for ya.

Unless I'm mistaken that's the brake off my old B28A .22 that I sold to jberenyi. If that's the case then it's one of Gene's brakes; I got it with a TurboTune. I don't know if he's making them anymore, seeing as he's shifting his business to Ed (shadow). IIRC it was $30 or $40-ish.

I can see where this gives you a better grip for cocking without the sights gouging your hand. Does it have any effect on accuracy? Any effect on the noise level when shooting? Any real reason to put one on other than looks?

Just got back from the swamp and sighting it all in. The break makes it easy to cock and get rid of the front sight in the scope. Other than that just looks cool. The jsb exact heavies got all the accuracy. 10.2 gr stretched it out to 75 yards. Only hit the can once from there but hey I'm happy with that. Started at 15 yards dead center 25 center  5 shot groups were 1/2 in at 25. 35 1/2 mil 3/4 in group hi 45 1 mil hi bout 1.5 in groups.hit a practice golf ball at 45. 65 was bout 1 in hi too far to see mils. The groups were 2 in at 65 yards! Out of an untuned springer I'm impressed. Will see how fast they are after kids crash.

That is correct. JB is a very good friend of mine and I know for certain that it did come off the B28 he purchased from you. Does make the gun look great. I would like to get one for my B28, but it has a stock length barrel on it now and it's all ready longer than a night in jail. Once I chop the barrel I will add one. I really love the one I have on my 350 Pro Compact.

Yep that is my muzzle brake..:) Sure made allot of them. I stopped making them when the tuning busieness got so busy. I only made them when I had the customers gun here. They were made to the specs of the barrels.

How many guns do you figure you've tuned, Gene? 1 short of "all of 'em?"

Allot...:) Never counted, but not as many as CDT had done in a 10 span... :)
