what to do with all this teflon?!
« on: April 14, 2010, 03:09:32 AM »

lol ok so I was looking around ebay last night looking at some different Teflon rods because I was thinking about making some Teflon seals for the B-3 just to compare them against stock seals and all that... and came across a hell of a buy on 5 2'x1/4" rods.... was planning on buttoning the piston anyway's and figured for the price what the hell...... now the dilemma is.... what am I going to do with the other9.97' of 1/4 inch Teflon rod LOL

the spring guide on my B is the old industrial hollow metal tube style.... and I could prolly turn a section to fit inside it and lengthen it a bit but I doubt it would be stiff enough to hold up as "squishy" as Teflon is.....(metal rod ala newer plastic spring guide maybe??) maybe try to take a section and turn down a small washer then screw it tothe section and stiffen that with a rod for a tophat?? lol worse that could happen is it comes apart and I am out a whopping nickel or something :)

button the bottom of the action tube where the cocking lever slides and maybe turn down a bit and sleeve the cross pin that it slides against on the two piece articulated cocking arm?!?!?!??!?!? makes some shims for the sides of the cocking armpivot??... nah I doubt 1/4 inch would be wide enough....

guess I could sell it by the inch or two for those that may want to make their own shims/buttons?!?!? LOL hell gimme some ideas folks....

How about turning a few down into .177/.22 conical bullets? You could center drill them and press in steel rod for added rigidity during machining. It would also be added weight for stabilization and/or penetration.

Hehe it was the first thing that popped into mind.

OR!!! You can make skirt uniformers/pellet seaters and sell em in the classifieds.

you could most definatelty make some teflon washers for the sides of the cocking lever of a b26 to take the awful rattle out. i know alot of people have this problem but 1/4 would have it's limitations in the inside of airguns buttons and small washers is all i can think of but if you had 1" i could come up with a few more.

Shady yea 1" I could make some seals and such and I plan on picking some up lol but for 5 bucks I couldnt pass up 10 foot of 1/4 inch LOL

Toolmaker, thats a most excelent idea! I had my head in springer land and didnt even think about pumpers/gassers shoulda thought of that considering alot of the paintball markers would use teflon seals on the valves
