I was sitting at my shooting bench yesterday afternoon with my 3rd B-3 rifle shooting pellet grouping tests to find the best pellet for the gun when low and behold 2 pigeons landed in the trees above my bird feeding stations. When I first started the shooting session I had zero'd the gun in using CPHP pellets, which were shooting nice sized groups, so I quickly grabbed a CPHP pellet out of the bunch, loaded it, stood up and sighted on the biggest of the two birds.
Put the crosshairs of the 4x scope on the chest and pulled the trigger. Immediately heard that loud "POP" of pellet meeting feathers and the bird dropped right off the branch hitting the ground with a thud. The second bird just sat there so I loaded up another pellet, aimed, fired, and hit a small branch dead center. Pigeon #2 left for parts unknown.
Retrieved my quarry, put him on the side for a plucking and cleaning after the shooting session and went back to the pellet grouping tests. No pics, the wife came home shortly after and I didn't feel like getting yelled at for hunting in the backyard.
As for the pellet grouping tests,,,,,,,, the B-3 decided it likes the GAMO Magnum pellets the best. Shoots one ragged hole dead center groups at 25 yards. Now I gotta order more Magnum pellets :)
Also shoots Beeman FTS pellets the same as the Magnums, but the Magnums are much cheaper so that's what I'll be feeding B-3 #3.
