Not really a clone of anything that I know about.  However many of them have common components with other china made guns.

I think they are worth more than you pay for them for what you are getting. The Contender series all have nice stocks, a decent trigger, and shoot hard and straight.  I wouldn't hesitate to tell someone to buy one.  I own a 99 and an 89, and love them both.  I'm even wanting an 87 now since I've decided I really like under lever guns.

I have and shoot a TF89 in .22 Calibre. Have a nice 6x scope on it. The wood is real nice looking with nice checkering on it. The metal work is nice and the blueing is also. Compared to the RWS Diana Model 48, it is not as nicely finished overall. Compared to the RWS350 we recently got, it is not as nice overall. It is also a few hundred dollars less expensive.
Compared to the Evanix Blizzard in .22 Calibre it is not nearly as nice overall. For all the longer shots I choose the Blizzard in a heartbeat. Nicer, more accurate... especially at 30 yards and further. Add in I really like having ten shots with just a cock of a side lever and it is no contest as to convenient and fast follow up shots.s

Both the Blizzard and the TF 89 have gotten one Coyote this spring. LUCK was involved in that both animals were taken in the 'sweet spot' for each rifle. 40 yards with the Evanix, 20 yards with the TF89. Both one shot kills.

The TF89 is accurate enough with the 6x scope that red wing blackbirds at 20 yards are generally 9 out of 10. Wind and hurrying play a factor in this. At 30-40 yards it is probably 6 out of 10 with a clean kill. The others are misses or a clipped feather. A body shot nails them at that distance but my shooting isn't quite what it could be. More practice and maybe a better scope will help there. The Blizzard is deadly at that range with a 9 for 10 being the usual result. The 10th is proabably me but a flier pellet could be the culprit also.

The TF89 is a pleasure to shoot. The one we inherited from the friend who purchased it and left it to us on the farm said it was tuned before he bought it. The Diana Model 48 was Turbo Tuned by "DaTuna" before our friend left it to us here on the farm when me moved back to town for more easily accessable medical facilitiesss.

To just take one in the field, springers... the TF89 is equal to the Diana and maybe a better choice with it being .22 Calibre and so nice to shoot. I like the Diana but the TF89 is just a bit more shooter friendly. With the stock, the chekering and finish it really looks good too. (I'm sure the birds looking at the pellet coming comment on how nice the rifle looks just before LightsOut... ;-)

Just be aware I have NO exerence with the great majority of Air Rifles out there. Most of my experience is with those named. A short time with the Blizzard comparing it to an AA410s in actual shooting and a short look at a Marauder. In springers, just what is listed above and if our TF89 is even close to typical I would buy one in a heartbeat over most is what is available for double the price. A lot of power and a low price in a hard shooting and accurate springer.

I have the TF 99 underlever in .177. VERY hard hitting and accurate rifle. Also have the tf 97 in .22. It's one of my favorites - very smooth action and accurate. My only complaint with both of these rifles are the triggers. But they can be smoothed out and acceptable with practice.
The TF 89 comes in several Chinese flavors.  I have a Beeman RS2 which has the same basic internals. It is a great value for the money. I think the Walther Force 1000 and the Hammerli Express are both TF 89 variants.  Good shooters with decent triggers IMHO.

I think there are a bunch of guns that use the same action like the Hammerli Titan.  However, I've got to say that TF has much better quality control than the others using the same action.

Are theses guns any good? How about the Model 87 Contender.I heard they lose power after awhile.

Thanks Ray

I have an 87 in .177. I LOVE it. It shoots H&N 10.65 at 920-930 fps. I have not done any long range shooting, but at 10 yards its shooting one holers. It is loud. I cant shoot it in the back yard. The only thing I dont like about it is the bear trap thing, and the twang. Not sure about the loss of power issue.

One last comment on Compasseco.  They are actually pretty close to me in geographic location.  Every time I've had an issue (usually one that I caused) they have helped me out.  I shipped off my TF 99 after I broke it by accident and it only cost me $25 and the few dollars to ship it.  They didn't even charge me to ship it back and sent it in a far nicer box than I sent it to them.  It came back way better than I sent it!
