Crows,,,pretty hard to shoot. Acute angles of more than 60 degrees up I haven't zero'd in yet. Kind of tough to hoist a paper target 35 yards in the air.
Nesting owls in my backyard,,,, crows come in large groups and dive bomb the parents and babies. They usually leave when they see me coming but this time they had a pretty crowd and actually got the owls to move off their perch. I got a shot almost straight up from me,,I heard the 'thop' sound and he came down. One time before when I shot one they all left quickly but this time they stayed and hassled some more. I got another good shot, heard the 'thop' but it wasn't good enough, he flew off immediately while the others stayed and fought. They still didn't leave after two of their comrads took a hit.
The gun is a Roald max tuned Hammerli 850, .22 JSB. My favorite.
I used to shoot squirrles untill the owls have matured enough to hunt all the baby squirrels and now I haven't seen a single squirrel for weeks now,,,very unusual from what has been - over run with squirrels. I didn't scare them one bit. Didn't matter how many I shot they just kept on coming back. But the owls have really put the fear into them.
