A lesson in firearm safety: squib load story
« on: April 16, 2010, 07:06:55 AM »

I was lurking on the 'net when I stumbled across this livejournal entry that caught my attention. It's written by a guy who had a squib load but didn't notice because he was in the heat of a match. I think it's notable that even an experienced shooter can somehow not notice one. It's definitely a lesson in safety and staying alert. And a lesson on why it's good to go shooting with other people.

Link here. NOTE: the "f" and "s" words appears once apiece in his post. Don't click the link if you can't handle it or are going to complain about it. You've been warned.

If there's one thing to take away from the linked story, I think it's that if someone yells "Stop!" on a shooting range, you darned well better stop...

Yea, though I walk through the garden in the shadows of pests,
I will fear no squirrel: For thou art with me;
thy scope and thy trigger, they comfort me.
