FT Forum on the Yellow: about shooting harness
« on: April 25, 2007, 02:38:48 AM »
Started a HUGE stink on the Yellow FT Forum when I posted pics of my shooting harness and bag. Most thought it was neat, but someone turned it into an ethics discussion about taking money away from the guy that markets a similar product commercially. One of the guys I got the idea from got fairly incensed at the assumption, so much so that the admin. told him to back off! Guess the guy that started it has a rep for rabblerousing on other forums.

So glad this doesn't happen here!

Gotta love this place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I alway's thought that a idea was something that one could build on, modify or improve and get idea's from fellow member's and in the end share freely with all. That's why we have GTA, and I dont even give the other forum a second glance. Just my two cent's and ain't this a great place to be. Ed

Hehe......anytime you show a way of making something of comparable quality for 1/8th the price someone is going to moan.....you know what I say, let 'em moan!  My guess is that guy spent his $150 on the real deal and is now feeling a little sick to his stomach, bummer him, duh!  It's just like those guys that whine when they have their $2000 guns and someone outshoots them with a $400 gun, they just can't believe that money can't buy them shooting skills.......

I agree with Dan and Ed. I think people, including myself are a little sensitive about there passions. I have a couple of instances to give as examples. #1 I go to Wally World and buy the Beeman SS1000, around the same time I get my first B3 from Cummins and around this time also join this great forum. Well almost 2 months go by and the sear in the Beeman wears out and the gun is unable to lock up to load or fire it. The B3 gets a tune before this all happens and does really well. Where I get sensitive is here I spent $125 on a gun and a gun that I have about 45 dollars into blows it away. My neighbor shot both and he flat out told me point blank that the B3 shoots better hehe. Well I looked at him and said no it doesnt!!! Lmao so I am guilty of this sensitivity also. Example #2. Shadow aka Ed and I had talked on the phone a couple of times about the B3 and different idea's we had for them. I had told Ed about the breech hole sizing being optimal for these guns at .120-.125". And we discussed ways of bushing the hole and drilling out for the optimum size. Where I got sensitive in this example was when Ed had posted his mods on his gun he had included the Breech hole sizing he did. But my name wasnt included for the idea. Looking back now I feel like a total idiot, not to mention that I know I was being rather childish. As a side note to Ed hehe please dont think I am mad or in any way feeling like I was dissed in any way shape or form. I am only saying these things because I understand how Rick is feeling but I also understand how people's feeliings get hurt to. Basically its up to each person to be able to get a grip on reality and be somewhat reasonable when dealing with others hehe.

Well dude, sometimes you just have to apologize for being smarter than the average bear.

I don't get this whole elitist airgunner mentality. What happened to fun?

Bully for you, for not getting sucked into someone else's gimmick and for finding your own way.

Yupper's the breach mod was John's idea and a GREAT ONE at that. I assumed that I had fallen behind on the B3 mod's and everyone else knew of this, silly me. Big thank's John for the info on that mod and to all that gave me valuable advice on the B3 project's. GTA is my airgun family and a great place to be. Ed

I get this every now & then too at another forum. I don't see why people have to push their opinions on others so fervently. I always thought DIY's were Better than what you can buy because you can build your own ideas that work for YOU into the piece. That way you don't say "I paid $(x-amount) for this, but I'm still dissatisfied because it doesn't have/do THIS. "

I almost got into a flame war on a rimfire site about Lubing cheap bulk ammo to get it to shoot better groups. I ended up just dropping it and stopped replies in that post.

I'm finding this forum much more comfortable to ask questions on and build on great ideas.  For a newbee like me its a fantastic resource.  While I have been keeping an eye on the other forum as it does have some great info posting on it seems to be a great way to become targeted yourself out of the blue.

Cheers

I have a few bucks tied up in air "toys"
« Reply #10 on: April 26, 2007, 05:29:03 AM »
After all is said and done though ~ they are really still "toys" . . . no matter what crosman stamps on the receiver. Granted that they are pretty nice "adult" toys ~ but toys all the same . . .
Some people seem to miss out on that for some reason.

Great Idea! but I sew better on thick stuff than the wife, and as slow as I am, I'd either have to charge way too much, or worse yet, give up shooting for lack of time. OOOOOhhhhhhhh NNNNnnnnnoooooooo!
