Gas Ram went no good
« on: April 22, 2010, 11:04:43 AM »
i had a gas ram installed in my cfx a couple months ago and since have changed it over to a hunter 440 and was doing apsolutely awsome until today. sat down at the bench for a shooting session and after about 30 shoots i grabed the barrel to cock the gun and smashed myself in the knee with the barrel unexpecting it thinking there was going to be 25-30 lbs of force and there was maybe 2 lbs so i guess it's goodbye ram. the ram is under warrenty but there is a delema the ram was installed in my cfx by pyrmyd air and it now resides in the hunter and the cfx is in pieces on the bench awaiting a barrrel that wont be here for several weeks and they want me to ship the entire gun. i guess i could reassemble it with the old barrel and send it out but what a pain.

I have a Nitro Piston sitting in my toolbox that I took out of my CFX.  I replaced it with a Theoben gas ram after noticing that the velocity dropped from 930 fps to 650 fps in my .177 cal. CFX.  If yours is a Nitro Piston made by Crosman, you could probably call up Crosman, ask to speak to one of the superiors there, and ask him to send you a replacement gas ram, but if I were you, I'd get the Theoben gas ram.
