My second "official" Coyote Hunt in the morning!
« on: April 22, 2010, 03:32:30 PM »
I was pleased when my phone rang about 8 last night.  It was my friend Jake "TeamRoper" Martenis inviting me to help him eradicate some problem coyotes!  I'm already packed and ready to go in the morning.

This week I bought a cool new shooting seat.  It folds up, is nice and soft, and has a fold out back rest.  I bought it for coyote and turkey hunting and eventually it is going to Kansas for the great Prairie Dog crusade.  I'll post some picture and hopefully video up tomorrow.  It is supposed to rain this weekend so I doubt I'm going to get to turkey hunt :( Only a couple of weeks left in the season too :(

if any of you are interested, we are having a Predator Calling seminar in Kingston, TN the weekend of the 8th.  A world champion caller is coming to give us some hints.

On another note, I've been given some pest control duties!  Jake's barn is being over ran by night critters!  I told him that I am highly practiced in night time hunting ;)  I'm just trying to figure out when I can go and my technique.

Predator Calling Event in TN

Post subject: Predator Hunting Clinic- May 8th
Posted: Thu Apr 15, 2010 10:50 AM

-- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just want to let everyone know that we are having a Predator Hunting Clinic at our place (Bar M Ranch) in Kingston, Tn. on May 8th and our guest speaker is Jason Groseclose who just won the following titles at the Expo last month.

2010 World Coyote Vocalization Champion
2010 World All-Around Predator Calling Contest-3rd Place
2010 World Distress Calling Contest-5th Place

Main topics of interest: Coyote and Bobcat Hunting
There will also be a couple hands-on setup scenarios (weather permitting)
Clinic Fee: $20/person
Time: 10 AM-3 PM

Anyone that is interested needs to send an email to barmranchandarena @ msn.com with their name and a contact number.
I need a ballpark number of the participants that will attend. I will respond to all emails ASAP with more details of the clinic.
In conjunction with the clinic we will have open enrollment for an organization that we have started called "Coyotes Unlimited" that will operate off our website http://www.barmranchandarena.com. We are doing this in an effort to connect farmers, ranchers and concerned citizens with responsible hunters whom might be able to help them with their coyote, bobcat or other predator problems. This is a non-profit organization and there are NO FEES to be a member. More details are listed on our website.
Please understand that there will not be any forums or blogs on our website, just locations where members live so that someone would know if a predator hunter lives near his or her location and there will also be a photo gallery. We would also like to have an annual hunt like the guys out in Johnson City do.
Our main goal is to have better educated hunters instead of better educated predators.

Yeah, I'm going to work on that!  I may just take my shotgun today and the camera instead of two guns.  I get just as much of a kick out of the filming as I do the hunting.  I'm going down one day in the next couple weeks to put out the infrared game camera to see what I'm up against.

The weekend of the calling thing would actually be a good time to do that.  I bought a used RV and I could set it up near his barn and just put the ding donger out.  How is that for lazy? :)

Well while the beloved Atchman did not get a coyote, his hunting buddy Jake did!  I'll post up some videos and pictures soon.

was that yote taken with an air gun? I'm wondering if I should think about using my 22 Mrod for yotes? or should I wait until the season comes and buy me a powder burner? I've been watching the videos online and really want to try my hand at calling. We've got a problem with them pests invading the neigborhood. Though I think I have yotes to thank for solving my coon problem...have not seen one since last fall... Going to go out with night vision video tomorrow and see if we can get some legal "shots" with some recorded calls. I'll bring the mrod just for defensive purposes.

Jim, we use powder burners for coyotes.  A big bore air gun would for certain take them out, but for now I have to use the powder burner until I have the $$$ to afford one :)

That is a fine looking Yote there and that's one critter that's still on my Magnum airgun list along with a Fox, Harry got his Fox not to long ago. :) Ed
