What Kind of Tune Do You Choose?

Suppose that you have a decent air rifle, say Beeman R-9, R-1, or HW97k, which usually shoots well out of the box with a good trigger and you want to get it tuned where it will most importantly quiet the rile and secondly further smooth the overall operation.  Suppose that you are not interested in changing the velocity.  What kind of tune do you choose?

on youtube where somebody in England, I believe, had his HW 97K V-Mach tuned and sounded really nice.  What is the equivalent tune that we can get here in the USA?

Not knowing what a V-Mach tune is, I'm guessing that you want the smoothest quietest tune ?

The spring guide is machined to perfectly fit the spring, everything is polished and fitted, and the proper lubes are applied. This makes a smooth and quiet air gun.

I'm with Bill in shamelessly endorsing the TurboTune. I had a TurboTune done on a B28A and it came out fantastic. I my particular case the gun came out a bit more powerful, but that isn't always the case. The first priority of the tune is of course smoothness. Gene came through in spades on that. The gun had a great (tiny) spread afterward too.

i agree with bill and others.once you get a turbo tune you'll never let anyone touch your springer again.besides R-9's are pritty quite already.

And since Gene is "retiring" anyway, I'd say Paul Watts:  http://www.springgunning.com/   He specializes in the high end guns, and is one of the few tuners that you're likely to recover your tune cost when/if you sell the rifle.  More expensive for sure, but by all accounts, you  get what you pay for.  Later.

I think the fun in this hobby is that a "tune" can mean different things to different people and could mean different things to the same person depending on what they want.  I have a few tuned rifles by guys who know what they are doing.  But I like tinkering with them myself too.  Some for power, some for smoothness, etc.  Sometimes those qualities are just relative.  I have tuned a rifle which in the end still was not as good as another but relative to where it started I deemed it successful.  And if I think it has more to give I don't mind tinkering with it more (sometimes I even prove "less is more" LOL) Geez, I'm not sure where I'm going with this but to say I can appreciate them all for what they are and what they bring to me which is a sense of appreciation and fun.
