What Scopes You Have Broken?
« on: May 01, 2010, 04:08:34 AM »
Doing a little quick research here, and just wondering, what scopes have you actually broken, and what were they attached to when you broke them?

I've only broken one because I found out about springer ratings right after that. It was a Leapers, which, funny, are springer rated. It was on an untuned Walther Force 1000 at the time.

CenterPoint 3x9 40AO on a Remington NPSS. By the way Doc - PA never got back to me on stop hole diameter on the AA TX200. Maybe I should buy elsewhere?

Not to knock PA, but I won't buy from them anymore excepting pellets, and even then I get a little cranky. PAs customer service is the PITS. airgunstation.com and airgunstyle.com both have the TX200 for that same price. http://www.straightshooters.com is $10 less. sportsmans-depot.com $10 less than that! http://www.guns.gb.com has a used one for 200 pounds, which is a little more than $300...

I'd go other places than PA.

Thanks for the input. Actually,up until now PA has done fine by me. I've heard other complaints - but never experienced bad service before. It kind of makes you wonder when they won't answer a simple question. I'll see what kind of mood I'm in the end of next week when it's time to make the purchase.

I've broken 2, both the same model Leapers, the old full size side focus 3-12x44 30mm tube without the illuminated reticle.  The first one stripped out the side focus internally, wouldn't adjust any more.  On the replacement, the elevation turret died.  Both were on a variety of springers, including a short time on a Diana 350.  In that same year, I had 4 other Leapers scopes, 2 6X Bug Busters and 2 of the 3-12x44 Compacts, all had lousy optics.  Haven't bought a Leapers brand scope since then, although I do have 3 Center Points, and they're supposed to come out of the same factory.  So far, so good.  Later.

CenterPoint 4x16x40, on a Walther Talon Mag .177. After about one tin of pellets the horizontal crosshair fell off.

3 Yes, 3 Leapers Tru Strength 4X16 power on my 350.
1 Tasco Golden Antler on a tuned Gamo
Leapers 6X Bug Buster on various low powered springers.

My hunting buddy killed 4 Leapers 4X16's and one 3-12 30 MM True Strengths on his 350 he bought from daved.
