chrony tested CFX w/new spring and seals.
« on: May 06, 2010, 08:48:48 AM »
I finally got my chrony the other day after nearly a month backorder and tested my cfx since I put new spring, piston seal and breech seals. I found it to be very good in my opinion but someone may be able to explain one strange phenomenon to me. I shoot one ten shoot string with JSB 8.4 and the results were high of 808 with a low 764 with a extreme of 44 fps and a standard deviation of 16 fps now the thing that I don't like was all shoots were between 790 and 808 fps except one shoot that was 764 so why is this one stray shoot off that much, is it the pellet or is it something internal such as spring rotation or anything I have not heard of overall I will take the 800 fps with the cfx for consistency with 8.4 grain pellets but I would hate to be hunting knowing that 764 is coming at any moment or is that enough of a drop to matter.

I 'm going with it how she is for sure, i've had this gun apart more in the two years that i've had it than it's been together. first the spring broke then the seal blows then new gas ram which led to breech seals over and over again so this time it is go or blow for the cfx but i have a felling she going to do just fine at a lower power.

I feel ya gamo gun's have nice design & all but part's are not up there where they should be, I'm slowing mine down too, still will be plenty fast for me.
