Big cats first kill.
« on: May 12, 2010, 01:55:12 PM »
Well after all the scope shifting I finally got to resighting in the Big Cat. SHot it out in the garage adn was nailing it at 35 ft so the initial sighting was done. Grabbed my stuff and headed to the swamp. I got about 30 ft in adn off to the side was a fat bushy tailed squirrel rattling around but with a un tried rifle I only know it was good at 35 ft. ANd the brush is so thick its almost impossible to get a shot. SO let him pass. Well its a good thing cause my first shot at 20 yards went over my trap. At least 8 in high. Well I cranked it almost all the way down adn still could not get it center so I moved up. MOved it back to center elevation and it was hitting high so I picked up a beer can and made a shim. Brought it down about 3/4 mil with every shim. I stopped at 2 peices of can and finished with the elevation adjustment on the scope. Then I wnet full stoopid on the windage. I was hitting just a little right and basically lost my mind cause I kept adding right windage adn getting more and more mad. lol Then realized what I was doing adn laughed. then undid what I did. I set up 2 golf balls and knocked them around till they either were behind trees or in a little hole. I was happy. I shot a pepsi can full of water for damage test adn it went clean through and split the can about 1/2 way from top to bottom. Not the most devastating but good. So I  Packed up, laugh at my stoopidity then headed to the house where guess what was waiting on me. GRACKLES! oh yeah I slid into position with the freshly sighted Big Cat adn as soon as I glassed him he looked at me and screamed then hauled but. I sat for a minute then as I was about to quit when a female flew in. Then a male. They were cackling and not paying attention to me then right as she bant down I let her have it. Pulled that gold trigger and let the 7.33 gr JSB fly. Hit just between her neck and left wing and exeted just infront of her right leg. It fell straight to the ground. Then I realized this was the first kill with the Big Cat. Ive had it the longest of my high end springers but she only has 1 kill. I got a pic and was impressed. The grackle didnt even drop the seed. That 2 now that never let go.

Enjoy the pic and safe shooting.

Excellent shot with the BC....and yep, they`re pretty inexpensive but powerful and accurate.  Great photo of her and her prey.
