Well, I just needed to build a backstop. One thing led to another. I was just out mowing in the dark with the headlights, and I flushed abunny. I don't think deisels are compatible with proper shooting technique but It would have been a 20 yard shot.

Now I need to find a post hole digger auger thingie for the PTO. I am getting too old to shovel.

Hey, that is orange. Kubota owners are fierce about the orange color. The JD green has become an icon so I guess it is a form of compensation. You sure won't lose this one in the grass.

And if this is mid life, it is comforting to know I will live to be 110!

It is going to help out around here a lot. I had some start up glitches with the Gearmore mower attachment but the dealer came out and took very good care of me- they are going to throw in a loading fork attachment for my trouble. The machine itself (B2320) is flawless, so far. Today I am going to mow my neighbor's fire hazard of a lot, and I should be very experienced by the time I am done with that waist-high mess. Here in fire country, it is more a form of self-defense than a charitable act.

It did sort of blow the AG budget for a little while, though. :-(

Snow is illegal here. But they definitely have the attachment. Think of it as an "ice dust collector".

The Deere compact utility is every bit as Japanese as the Kubota! I was really down to a coin toss between the two. Kubota basically invented the compact utility tractor market, and JD just paints a Yanmar green.

I think I could've bought about 7 Steyrs. But I smacked down the neighbor's tinderbox like it wasn't there and knocked off a couple acres of my own. Tres cool and in the long run, it theoretically frees up shooting time.

I did do some damage learning to maneuver with the front end loader (FEL) but it is easily repaired. Just the garage wall and some chain link and the tractor roof, really nothing significant. I think I got it now.

Well Dave,

That is really a nice piece of equipment, and I have been having fun at your expense, SORRY !!!!

I only wish that I had a little bit bigger piece of property so that I could get a riding piece of equipment so that I could sit down, clear my snow, and mow the lawn ! I just don't want anything quite so BIG !

I hope the repairs go smoothly buddy !!!!

If my addition is correct, the total is 7 Steyrs and 1 Daystate. The garage wall and fence raised the pot.

The first flat tire will add a sleeve of pellets to the on going list.

It sounds like a tractor is the same as a boat. A black hole, sucking all your money into it.

Good luck Dave and buy the wife a nice present. Your going to need the extra insurance.

I have had two boats- little ones- and there is no comparison. Any more "free fish" and I'd be in bankruptcy!

The stucco is on the back of the garage and there is no rush to fix that little gouge. I can proudly show the battle scar to little Heidi some day. The chainlink was kind of a drag... not a Daystate by any means, but at my hourly rate, maybe a 1377.

At least what I put into the tractor pays me back in work and capability. Plus it doesn't seem likely to break as much. And if you drop a tool while trying to fix it, it doesn't disappear forever to the bottom of the lake. And if you run out of fuel you can just walk back to the house.

I love boats. I grew up on the Great Lakes and there was always one around. As a kid, they couldn't keep out of them and the water. But in my old age I have learned that, with as much time as I get to use one now, I am SO ahead just renting one. Even if I rented 12 weekends a year, which I would never get the time to do, I would still be way ahead. I decided that unless I ever actually live on the water's edge I will not own any more boats. I sure miss salmon and walleye, and I still have downriggers and stuff. I just clamp my own gear to whatever rental tub I get out here on the reservoir lakes, and make them my own for the day. It is a relief to drop them back off to the owners.
