Bealess grackle, with the big cats help.
« on: May 15, 2010, 02:03:07 AM »
Well while I was cleaning up in prep for the daughters bday party I noticed the grackles doing their usual routine. Chase off everything and eat all my food. Well I figured today would be challange day, nothing but head shots. Well only got 2 shots off and here is the good one. This bird was pecking around in the feeder facing right at me so when it was grabbing a seed I let her have it. Right in the face. The bird dropped instantly. Went back to cleaning and only got one other shot. Missed at about 20 yards. Heads are hard tatgets. lol When I went and collected the trophy for pics and to get it out of the feeder before all the other 11 yr old girls showed up I saw the exit hole and looked for an entry. Thats when I noticed the bottom beak missing about half of it! HECK YEAH! right down the pipe. I hit the bottom beak and in the mouth then out the throat just above the chest. I put the screw anchor in to show the bottom beat it wasnt trying to steal it too. lol ENjoy the pis.

dj nice shooting on those Grackles, I wish I had them around here. Keep on them to make sure the birthday party goes off without any Grackle issues. And tell your daughter Happy birthday from all the forum members. I trust it goes without saying she will be getting an air rifle for her birthday, from dad, right?

Great shot....that's better than my beak-shot Starling.  I hit it on the beak 2mm from it's eye.  The ft. lb. killed it instantly....shot was about 24 yards away so the beak didn't break.

Nice shot !

No way I'd even try for a head shot, I consider myself lucky if I hit the bird when just aiming for the largest part of the body !!!! :D
