Ruger Air Hawk Elite
« on: May 15, 2010, 11:24:22 AM »
Can anyone report on the quality and accuracy of the Ruger Air Hawk Elite? I saw one on sale (the last one) at Big 5 Sporting Goods today, and now wonder if it would make a good strong accurate shooter.

I have an Air Hawk with a JM spring/seal averaging 889 fps(15+ fpe), 13 ES, and an SD of 4 with FTS's. At 20 meters, 10 shots =1 ragged hole covered by a dime so it is not too bad in the accuracy department. Others have the Black Hawk and are happy with it as well. with a little work they are great guns for the money. The internals of mine required less work than my Panther at twice the price.

My favorite gun. This is a hidden gem at the money they ask. This is the only gun I hunted with and is the most accurate right out of the box. This is a clone of the RWS 34 and its half the price. Its heavy, it shoots smooth. I have to say after shooting one and going back to the Gamos, I feel like Im holding a train wreck from all the noise Gamos make. The Ruger only makes a hiss sound when fired. The recoil is pretty powerfull as well. I love this gun!

I own a Ruger Air Hawk that was tuned by Gene Curtis and is a sweetheart to shoot.  Stock and barrel were customized by Tim Meridith, with Genes' muzzle break added.  This gun of better quality than i had expected for the price initially, as Bob would say of the older Gamos', it's a diamond in the rough if you invest a little money and time into the basic gun.  You will be pleased with it after some TLC, nad work on the gun but it may not be "all that" straight out of the box.  Good luck with it and  let us know your opinion of her when you do get her.

I own a airhawk, blackhawk, and elite, they are great guns, very accurate and hard hitting, seem to be built to very good tolerances. My blackhawk is one of my favorite guns.

For a little more( if a member) you can get one without the "R" stamps on the breech and stock. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/browse/browse.aspx?c=1
Being an ambi stock I didn't like the feel of the thumbhole. You can order the muzzle break from Umarex for $19.99 plus shipping if you choose the regular/synthetic stocked Hawk.
