Any other opinions on this scope?
« on: May 15, 2010, 12:08:48 PM »
Just got a BSA 3-12X44 with side wheel AO from Natchez. I know it's a BSA but it has a lot of nice features, seems sturdy and it was $45 bucks. It's only 12.5" long and I like the side wheel that allows range finding from 8 to 100 yards and focus to infinity. Glass on the one I got is quite clear. It might be a hair on the heavy side but it is air gun rated. If it holds up, for the money I'm going to like it a lot.

Let me preface this by saying I had that scope mounted on a B-28. With that being said, I loved the scope. The glass was super clear. I mounted it on my Gamo and it held up very nice. However, it was meant for my B-28 and it went through two of them. I had also ordered from Natchez and they were very good with the initial return and then the eventual refund. All I can say is if you are mounting it on a rifle with a hard recoil, you may go through the same thing I did. Some people say if the rifle is tuned that this may help, but my rifle was tuned also and they still broke. I also had in mounted on the UTG scope base . I hope this helps.

Walt,

i'm not sure that scope is AG rated. While it may work it may let go. They do make a 3-12x44 that is AG rated. I have 2 of them and they are clear and have held up very well on medium springers. One thing I will say is I would scrap the 2 piece mounts and go with a one piece 4 screw.

A couple of Springers nothin to get excited about.

Definitely got it from the air gun rated section of the catalog. I think this is the current rendition of BSA's  AG rated 3-12X44 that was also AO but this one you do it with the side wheel. I had the prior version on the B-40 I recently sold. I tried to mount it in a one piece but because of the housing for the erector spring on the scope it would not clear the base on the one piece I had in the spare parts box. The Gamo 220 it is mounted on is a very smooth shooter without a extreme amount of perceived or felt recoil. Also it came with the guaranteed not to rust, bust, collect dust or bite the baby warranty so it can always go back.

It doesn't have mildots and I can tell you it is definitely nothing like the Leapers.

It  is a BSA, the model is a ESSENTIAL, AR312X44 air rifle scope. It only has standard target cross hair in the reticle.
