How long can you leave a conventional metal spring cocked for without doing any damage to it?

There is a link in the GTA Library has this information. A springer is susceptible to damage when it is left cocked for long periods of time. When hunting it really does not hurt to leave it loaded and cocked for few hours. But any longer than that it will start losing its power.
