Looks GOOD Gene!!!

How are you machining your Tapers? Freehand or with the compound?

Heck Gene,

They look real nice to me, as good or better than anything I have seen on the web ! :)

Keep up the good work, you'll need to have some inventory on hand when the store opens. ;)

Hey, Gene, ever consider making a brake that looks like the flash suppressor from a German machine gun? Ya know. cylindrical for about 1 1/4", then neckin down immediately and flaring out to original diameter  over 4 " or so. Might look neat, especially on a synthetic stock, and would definitely be non-slip. Kinda like this:

I have never seen one of them before Ric.. Interesting but should not  be a big problem making them.. It is not your usual type of brake but maybe I will give it a try.. Maybe I can find a picture on line of one of them.. You have any idea where I could find a picture at Ric??  :)

Sam, I just setup the degree on my cross saddle and use the auto feed...:) Very easy operation, but I did make the first ones freehand because I had forgot about that setup..:) Like I said before, it has been 40 + years since I touched a lathe or mill and things are coming back slow... hehe  One thing is for sure Sam, that your imagination is your only limitation....:)  Ed, give me back my imagination... hehe

Here's one style I found. Don't think the 2 rings in the back would have to be so big, or there at all. Also, a short counterbore in the muzzle end would be nice, but not necessary. Just a silly thought

Looks cool Rick..:) That would not be a problem both outer taper or inner taper.. :) Maybe some cooling holes aft of the horn instead of the two larger area's..:) Or even some flutes .......... The counter bore and outer bore I can do with my auto feed with proper degrees on my saddle.. Could look real nice.. Maybe I will try it out on a piece of plastic and see how it would work.. What airgun would you think something like that would be appropriate on?

I like shiney things:)

When can we put in our orders?  Think I may be needing a brake for a 22XX pistol.

Aaaah....An MG42 Funnel Muzzle! Those are cool.

There's an easy way to do it. Just turn your base piece and press fit a piece of tubing inside it. After it's all pressed together, chuck it back up into the lathe on med-high speed, heat the tube up close to red hot and flare it with the dead center. Works every time!

I made one today out of 7/8" PVC... Will show pics later but it was easy..:) Just bored my hole to fit barrel, turned piece around and cut the O/D I wanted up to 1" from end. The remaining 1" piece I drilled for pellet hole and used a boring bar to make the cone I/D.. Took out of chuck and turned it around and tapperd the O/D to match the I/D.. I then went over to the mill and made 4 flutes in the saft, Sanded and painted.. WaaaaLaaaaaaa...:)

Took me about 1 1/2 hours to finish up.. But I took a couple breads as well..:)

I wanted to try this with plastic first to see what the easiest way to machine it would be.. I thought that it was neat that Ric posted about it..

I think it would look especially good on any of the "tactical" looking synthetic stock guns, but any dark stock with a scope would work. Give it that "sniper" look. How about an S1K(like mine, hehe).
