Californians, Where do you get your pellets?
« on: May 27, 2010, 07:51:29 AM »
I live in the mountains and have 4 choices for pellets K-Mart, (no .22) Local Sporting goods (expensive and crap selection), order online drive off the mountain and go to a bigger sporting goods chain. Driving off the mountain is the same as ordering online by cost but I can get them in a couple of hours instead of a week. I have been ordering from Pyramyd Air but the shipping time is ridiculous, if I order on a Monday I will not see the pellets until the next Tuesday or Wednesday and I don't wish to pay extra for express shipping.
So who in do you order from in Ca.? Maybe if I find a shop in the state I can get the pellets in under a week.

I am a New Yorker, which is almost the same as a Californian, so I share your pain.  Anyway, I recently wanted to get a fairly wide selection of .22 pellets and can't find any around here.   I have bought from PA in the past and don't recollect having shipping delays.  This time I bought from AoA because their prices were better. I think the shipping time was about the same as you experienced, but at least I got what I wanted at a good price.

Sports Authority, Big 5,  and if I feel like driving Walmart. (they have the benji .22 hollowpoint, and crosman pointed .22 pellets.)

The Crosman pointed is the best cheap pellet by far!!!! the marauder loves these pellets

I think it is best to order online from Pyramyd Air....Buy as much as you can afford, stock up for a few months.

P.S. Mike...One trick I've learned about the PA shipping, never go with that free ground shipping...(like you said it SUCKS to CA)...did it once and never again...

Instead what you Do is : Put all your stuff in your cart that you want, then use the 10% off code they ALWAYS have running. It normally saves enough money that you can select whatever shipping method you want and be less than if u didn't. (2nd day tends to be the best options, and either turns out cheaper/faster, or even with that price of free shipping. but faster)

I always use the 10% code for anything I purchase from them

Shipping is your problem.  It’s just as hard to go up the hill to as its for you to come down. Most shipping companies don’t go up the hill for one delivery. I drive 45 miles to Basspro for pellets. There only one air gun store in southern California (orange county area) and that’s in Bellflower.

Actually there is another fine choice for pellets in Southern California in Gardena, called Mac1. You will find competitive pricing (include shipping costs before comparing) on a good selection of quality pellets in multiple calibers, including .20. It is not that far from Orange County, and I am able to muster a visit now and then from San Diego area. Of course the in-laws are just around the corner in 'Pedro.

I get mine from Pyramid, Mac1, and the occasional drive by Big 5 when desperate. Walmart is useless here for lead.

UPS, FedEx and USPS have several trucks on the hill every day of the week. Shipping shouldn't be an issue. It's the distance from Pa to Ca. and they use the slowest boat in the dock to send ground.

U have 3 choices bro. Num1. Drive off the mountain and drive to ur sporting goods store. Num2 order from airgundepot u will get ur pellets quicker since there in utah but they don't have the buy 3 get 1 free deal from pyramid air and I think they don't carry a wide variety like pa or do what I do order 100 bucks worth from pa so that way u can monitor which pellets u go thru quicker and place a order before u run out I have 2 shoe boxes full of pellets that's eenough for a while but I do sell pellets locally to my buddies who run out and can't get good quality pellets at wallmart and kmart

PA for me.  I've seen better prices, but not usually after the "buy 3, get one free" and "free shipping over $100" deals.  I'm in Las Vegas, not SoCal, but shipping still takes 4-5 business days via ground.  However, that's normal for anything coming from the East Coast, so it doesn't bother me.  Unless something is back-ordered, my order usually leaves the warehouse the day I place it.  So I doubt another vendor would ship ground to you faster, unless they are just geographically closer.

Can you just order a little more in advance so shipping time isn't an option?

What CitySniper said...
I tend to keep a deep supply of Crosman via Walmart.  A couple extra choices online, .22 HP in most stores now.
http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?search_constraint=0&ic=48_0&search_query=crosman+premier&Find.x=0&Find.y=0&Find=Find

Anything else, if available locally....big5, sportsbobs, Gunboys, is usually overpriced.   I just ordered a batch from Sunshine.  Predators and FTS.
