Tailgate party
« on: May 29, 2010, 08:15:43 AM »
After work yesterday I called my good friend DougT and we arranged to meet at his house about 7:30 PM. We got our guns gathered up and his gun pumped up and headed out to a new location that Doug had just received permission to hunt on. We arrived on site somewhere around 8:00 PM. We made our way around the 8 grain bins shooting as we went. I saw a rabbit and was able to give him an  RWS h-point and he ran off into the brush. This was unfortunately my last pellet, so I ran Doug down and stole a few pellets from him. I found the rabbit again and gave him JSB right in the head. He did one quick jump straight up in the air and did no more moving. By about 9:30 it was getting pretty dark and there not many more things to shoot at so we gathered up our pray and took this picture in the dark. During our trip we saw a white owl with about a 2 1/2 foot wing span fly by which was neat to see. A little later we saw her nest with these 4 babies. The larger one stood there and hissed at us very loudly, the others did not even seem to care that we were nearby. After our hunt we decided to leave a few of the pigeons near the nest to "help out mom" on her hunting. This trip ended with 40 confirmed pigeon kills and 1 rabbit. A few of the pigeons did not slid off the tops of the grain bins and a few crashed out in the fields that we did not go looking for. Hope you enjoy the tailgate party photos.

Sorry, I am having some trouble with my posting of pictures.
DougT, please help me out and post these photos for me.

We ended going into 7 of the 8 grain bins and doing a lot of shooting inside them.  This would flush the pigeons out the top.  We would then walk around the bins, shooting at the pigeons that circled back around to land on top of them.  I think we'll go back another time this weekend and flush them all out first, then wait for them to return.

I'm not able to post pics as well and have been having trouble with this site for the past 24 hours.  I'll try to post the pics later.
