I received these question by email.
« on: May 29, 2010, 08:44:15 AM »

The sender asked if I would post his questions and not reveal his name for fear of reprisalsfrom other forum owners.Say a few words to, i'll call himMystery Man, if you feel youmust vent. Maybe he'll come forward. Anyway, he asked: What is the PowerMax Hipac made from and is it just for HPA? What is the deal with the burst disk and hydro testing? How much is it?

The PowerMax is made form highcarbon steel and can be used for CO2/N2 or HPA.

As I stated before, the PowerMax is a HPA/Bulk adaptor. That's all it is. It is not a cylinder.Itcan't hold any pressure on its' own. Both ends are open so there is no hydro testing to be done.

The question of the burst disk was answered in a previous thread but here it is again. The Air Force Talonis the only HPA gun with a built-in burst disk. The engineers who designed the valve for the 2240 and most HPA guns designed them with some type ofblowby/vent hole. The strength of the seal is what keeps the pressure in the cylinder. Any pressure that exceeds the strength of the seal, whether accidental or intentionalis vented through that hole (photos in previous classified post)

The cost is posted in the classified section add "PowerMax-HiPAC"

I dont know about the power Max, sorry. From what I saw once there is a claim you can go to fairly high pressures with one(?) if this is the case you NEED to secrw the valve MUCH better than stock.
Other than the Talon there ARE other pcp's which come with a burst disc.

I agree. The valve needs to be secured by whatever means one feels necessary. I chose not to drill holes and anchor the valvethrough the tube, instead I tapped and drilled for a larger/stronger set screw.

I agree. If high pressure is what you're after then the valve needs to be secured by whatever means one feels necessary. I never said you didn't have to secure the valve. I said it wasn't necessary to drill holesin the tube to do it. I chose insteadto tap and drill for a larger/stronger set screw. The factory seal easily holds to 1600psi and will give way long before the pressure gets high enough to break the factory set screw. Abigger screwsolves the problem without drilling, as long as you don't use a wrench to tighten it in.
