LW Barrel swap for CFX
« on: May 30, 2010, 02:13:40 PM »
LW barrel arrived last week and was wrong I ordered the .591 OD but ended up getting a .630 OD but rather than wait another 5 weeks I went ahead and cut and machined to fit the rifle and the results are night and day. the gun for the first time shot 3/4 inch groups consistently at 30 yards and seemed to want to do better but the shooter was holding her back . the .630 barrel gives the look of a bull barrel and came out real nice the barrel comes as a 23 inch blank unfinished on both ends so I had to crown the muzzle as well as cut it down and thread the receiver end. the pellet is a bit of a pain to load for the new barrel seems to have a snug fit to the jsb 8.4 I did use a dremel pointed grinding stone and held it up to the breech end of the barrel while it was in the lathe to give a slight bevel for the pellet skirt and that helped. I am very pleased with the new barrel and this ends my cfx saga and is now my most accurate AG in my collection and with nutter season wright around the corner I have something in store for those bird feeder bandits.  :emoticon:

the barrel is 1 inch shorter than stock and i will take some photo's in a minute and post. the barrel still can be screwed out and i need to remove one last time to apply locktite then i will picture the barrel removed and installed but will still need to fit underlever clip to underside of barrel.
