Your Favorite Reticle?? (with pictures)
« on: June 01, 2010, 02:39:08 AM »
One thing I don't remember ever seeing discussed here is reticles. i guess technically it isn't really part of an airgun, and an optics forum would be more likely for such chatter, but the thing I wonder is what people who shoot airguns like best. For the most part every scope I've gotten is a duplex or mildot. But there are so many other options...none of which I've seen being what I think I'd choose given the chance to design my own. In any case, what's your favorite reticle? WHY? Choose from the attached chart to choose your number and discuss!

*OK, didn't see the notice about images... Click to see the reticles!

Hey Richard,

I don't do a lot of long range shooting (YET) but prefer #16E2. Just a good old fashioned Mil-dot. As a second choice I like #11.

Happy Shooting!!!!

In conjunction with their BRC program the Hawke MAP/SR reticule would be my first choice. Nice fine marks and a few measurements and the guess work for distance is gone. 2nd choice would be a Mil-Dot scope #16E2

Either of the 16e mil dot reticles. They are easier to judge distance and correct for wind and elevetion. I build range cards for each of my rifles once I get them settled into a scope combo that I like on them. This way I can look at each and know how many mils I have to correct fro at each range on each rifle and dont have to try to memorize each one. Just take a quik look at the card and im under way. The illuminated reticles are a nice touch. I have 2 with oone without and the with out will probably be gone shotrly.

I like the no 2 and the 16E2! The less clutter the better for me! Those ones with all the lines all over the place would confuse me! :)

I've got several mildot scopes and prefered them for hold-over ,,, until I got the CenterPoint that comes on the Trails.

Externally, this CenterPoint is exactly like a Hawk Map Pro, but with a rectical most like #11. Three posts, combined with fine wire cross hairs, and three fine "tick" marks on each wire. I find I can be more precice with the fine tick marks than I can with the round mildots.

I was toying with some designs of what I like best and taking into consideration suggestions here.

What do you think of these... Richard's Designs

My idea here is I think it is weird to blot out the object you are trying to see with the reticle. At the same time the ideas here aren't particularly cheap to reproduce as they would mostly have to be done with etched reticles...

But I am a curious one... ;-)

I'd like to experiment with R4. Looks interesting, different and may be promising.

R1 & R2 not really new.But those smaller center circle's placed in R4's center would be real nice to play with,I really like the R4 design alot.
