New Crosman Storm XT
« on: June 05, 2010, 12:10:09 PM »
Well, I just finished installing the scope and cleaning up  the .177 cal Crosman Storm XT combo  that I got at Walmart yesterday for $54 bucks.  Just have to let the loc-tite cure for 48 hours and she'll be all set to take to the duck farm for her first hunt.   I thought the wood and metal was nice yesterday when I took it out of the box but after a good cleaning and a nice shine with a new silicone gun cloth it looks beautiful :)

Can't wait for the loc-tite to cure so I can shoot it again  :)

It's worth a try.  The Walmart that is closest to my house doesn't have them marked down, they have them for the regular $109.99 price,,, but the Walmart I went to yesterday, which is a bit of a ride for me, had them  marked down along with a bunch of other stuff.  I guess it varies from store to store.......

Just got back form Wally-world and found 3 XTs' there.  One without a scope in the box and 2 with.  Bought  all 3, gave 54.00 for the 2 and 30.00 for the one without the scope.  Hey.....my Christmas shopping is done!!!  One for my Dad, one for my Brother and maybe one for Me!!!  Now I just have to clean them up and tune them then they'll be ready to go.  The XT in the box are the ones they have marked down, I may have to venture out to other Wally-world outlets later this week and get at least 2 more for modification experiments and such.  Never can have too many air rifles, the road goes on forever and the party never ends.

Jeff,

The 3 Storms I bought from Wally-world last night.....I cleaned #1 up before daylite this morning, sun came up and off to the backyard range.  This gun likes almost every heavy pellet that I put thru it.  At 17 yards open sights (that's as far as I can see with open irons, old age sux) I was getting groups of 5 shots at 3/4" and slightly less.  I thought I had just got lucky and freaked up on a good gun out of the box.....I'm impressed.  Back to the shop and open gun #2, clean and clean the barh ditch oil and goo out of it, back to the range.  Gun #2, 5 shot groups at 17 yards of 3/4" and less again.  Now I'm really impressed.  The cocking action on both guns was fairly smooth for stock, the shot cycle was not as bad as most of my Gamos', very minimal dieseling at first this cleared up after about 5 or 6 rounds.  The new style trigger as advertised on the box is a lot better than older Crosman and Gamo triggers, is acceptable for break-in period but I gotta contact Bob and get 3 new ones on the way (I'm spoiled to that gold jewel).  I thought about giving these as Christmas gifts for my Dad and Brother, I may want to rethink that idea....me like!!  Got gun #1 torn down on the bench and started making a new spring guide for it tophat is finished already.  Will tune and re-evaluate performance and decide if these are gifts or keepers for my arsenal.  May go out and search a couple of the other Wally-world stores in the area for a couple of more bargains, hmmmmmm.  Wife is leaving town for a few days today, I seem to wind-up in trouble quite often when left to my own devices, or is that vises?  Don't know for sure but it'll be fun to find out I'm sure.

Glad to hear you like your Storms Tim, I know I like mine as much as  you like yours  :)  I can't believe how nice the thing shoots and like I said, the "new" trigger on  mine is so nice it's amazing.

I'm so impressed I'm thinking of taking a ride later back to the Walmart where I got this one and see if they still have them in stock.  If they do I think I"m going to buy a couple more,,,, one for a gift and one for me  :)

It's all your fault Jeff.   Thanks for the heads-up.  lol
(I posted the text below under your bargain thread.)

Found a small pile of the boxed XT's at a local wally-world. But they were not marked down to $54.
When I found the sporting goods dude, he had a handful of red stickers to post, one of which was the $54 Storm XT!

Two of them instantly jumped into my cart. Took a quick peek at each to make sure they looked ok on the outside.
Completely unassembled one - degreased - ready for deburr, yada yada.
Other one, iron sights, shot 10 or 15 pellets to get the poison out - whoa - spotted a grackle in the cherry tree - pointed it - popped him.

They also marked the Big Cats down to $74.

Maybe try tohave one put on hold/layaway or something.....BEFORE they get marked down. Just a thought.

I have to go pickup another today. A friend of mine bought a new (old) house and his apricot tree is getting raped by nutters. His house is backed up to theAmerican River so he's gonna have visitors often. :-)

The Storm XT should make a good house warming gift. He's single so I can get away with it easy. lol

LOL..what yer got against our pigs ?......I have lost 2 dogs to them over the years..
pigs opened the side of both up...had to shoot one & cut the thout of the other...
I mostly hunted pigs with a knive..3 good dogs to hold it & stick it with a 11" blade..
The dogs are more of a danger than the pig..they get so worked up the hatch on to anything
if yer arms there its fair game for them..while yer trying ti stick it...
They were all boxer/ridgeback Xs

All good fun..
