In our backyard we have a large strawberry patch that produces gallons of berries each year. I went out to pick some about two weekends ago and notices some nice berries were on the retaining wall and about 1/2 eaten. Later that day I noticed 2 healthy looking tree squirrels eating more strawberries. I had loaned my 850 to WadeS to shoot some birds at his house and I forgot I even had my springer:( A few days later I got my 850 back and kept looking for squirrels in my back yard. Ahaa! There's one. It was sitting on my back retaining wall with a nice hillside as a backstop right at 20 yards. I know the 850 shoots about 1/2" high at that range so I put the crosshairs at the back of it's jaw and let the JSB sail. WHOP! It flinched once or twice but really just rolled over. I let it sit for the rest of the day hoping it would attract some attention but nothing. A few days later there were three other tree squirrels on the fence top and in the trees in my neighbor's yard but I resisted. He has said I can shoot them but I dont' want a bloody squirrel dead on his back patio with their little kids running around. I've determined they have to be in MY yard for them to be fair game.
Sorry, no picture. I took one but it accidentaly got deleted:( Imagine a dead squirrel with a bloody ear laying on a concrete retaining wall stone between a sprinkler and a strawberry patch.
