Another Grackle attack
« on: June 17, 2010, 03:44:48 AM »
Having my morning coffee I looked out in my yard in time to see a Grackle fly in and go after the Catbirds , I had to get my shooting window  shade up and get it opened and was surprised he was still there walking around I got the 850 and watched as he circled an apple tree, I was waiting for him to stoop but he just kept walking so I decided to try and lead him a little and take a shot , I let the CPHP go and there was a  whack and he fell over one wing in the air ( 25 yards). No picture yet as its a light rain ( maybe later unless a cat  gets it)  . Funny I was looking in an old bird book ( copyright 1909) and in the write up on Grackles the author said he considered them to be the most destructive bird.
