90 Degree Pellet Seater

How about one of you guys designing a 90 degree pellet seater. You can use the Beeman Pell seater as a pattern. The handle will have to be long enough for a good hand hold. It will be used for under - lever and side - lever cocking rifles. Several people have expressed interest in one. I would love to have one.

The problem is not a 90 deg seat, it is a holder. You would have to hold the pellet tight enough to put it in the breech, without distorting the skirt. So I would think that it would almost be a pellet specific tool, 2-3, but not all. JMHO

     I use a large set of tweezers to insert the pellet into the breech so I would be useing two tools which is no problem for me.

Beeman made a 90 degree pellet seater in the early 90s.  I have one.  It is no longer made.  If you would like to see a picture I will see would I can do about posting a picture of it.

Yes, there is a big difference between a pellet seater and a pellet installer. Pellet seaters are pretty commonly used in Co2 guns where the probe might be short. Pellet installer have met with little success because of the skirt damage that they cause. I toyed with the idea for awhile but couldn't come up with anything that worked well and just gave up on it and considered it a future project .... that I never returned to ... lol....

I have to be out of town for the next couple of days.  I will try and take and post a picture of my 90 degree depth adjustable Beeman pellet seater when I return.

I have owned a Dianna 48 for a few years and my fingers and thumb are kind of big to be able to place a pellet in the breach, easily.

I made a simple holder for the pellets.

If you wanted to make one for yourself this is all you would need.

1 ea. 1/4" x 3/8" x 5" Wood I used spruce because that is what I had about many thing would work.

1 ea. 1/8" dia. wood dowel about 3/4" long

1 ea. foam rubber with adhesive on one side. I used 1/8" thick and you'll need a piece about 3/8" square

I started by sharpening the end of a piece of hobby shop brass tube. I OD was just under the skirt dia. of the pellet you want to use.

I stuck this to one end of the wood stick.

I then drilled a 1/8" dia. hole, centered on the hole in the foam.

I cut the 1/8" dowel to length and files a taper on one end.

The 1/8" dowel needs to be a sliding fit into the wood but not loose.

That's it.

Forgot to say, once the pellet is held in the loader, you line the pellet with the breach. Press the holder forward and then press the dowel forward with your thumb. Pellet is seated and no damage to the pellet.

Wish I could take a photo of it being used, but I can't load the pellet, hold the gun and take the photo all at once.  

It isn't perfect, but close. If you look at the toothbrush section of a drug store and look at the little aluminum handled gum stimulator sold under the brand name GUM. It comes with little rubber tips that are used to massage the gums between teeth...sort of like a miniature hershey's hiss chocolate in shape. You can either nip the tip off the rubber tip to fit the cavity in the pellet...or you can just pull it off the handle. The aluminum tip that holds the rubber tip on the handle is surprisingly well shaped for the purpose. I keep this handy when shooting the gamo cfx.....sometimes there is no other way to get a tight pellet seated...works perfectly. And the aluminum handle is a beautiful gold anodization.
