What happen to the GTA get together and shoot?
« on: May 19, 2007, 09:50:53 AM »
There was a lot of talk for a while then it died . Last I heard there was going to be an eastern and a western meet and shoot . Is it still going to happen?  If we wait until August  our squirrel season will open up on the 15th and we could make it a get together and hunt.  Gene , when squirrel season open in S.C. and how much for an out of state  small game license. kirby 8)

Well gang we had a small GTA get together today at my place in north Tx. We had 6 people show up, Roald, Dan and I being the GTA part. I havent seen Dan or Roald post about it yet but I am sure they will chime in and then Joel and Steve might pop on and say something also hehe. I can tell ya though that getting together with a few really nice guys like I got to hang out with today is just an awesome experience.

Well David, I was just thinking about that same subject today.. I shoot on private land and I have never looked into squirrel season for hunting..:) I am so far away from anywhere it does not matter to me I guess.. I am bad..:) I do alot of paper shooting as well.. But it would be great to have a get together here or anywhere where I could drive to. I have alot of different guns n different flavors and would probably take half of them with me where every we could get together.. I think the only problem is alot of the guys have families and jobs, and most only get a week or two a year.. And of course there are the bills that have to be paid and by all means the airgun fund..:) So it hard for some to be able to drive a ways and stay for a couple days and turn around and drive back.. I am retired but my car is almost 8 years old and lots of miles on it, so I know I cannot go a long ways..:) But I wood be willing to drive at least 500 miles to meet some great guys..:) So are we gonna try  this again...? If so I am good for 500 miles or so..:)

Those guys in Texas make me jealous..:) John, Dano, Joel, and the bunch.. hehe

Hey, guys, maybe we're trying to be a little too ambitious here.  I'm thinking the Texas guys have the right idea, a weekend get together with other local GTA members, local being defined as maybe a couple hundred miles.  I know there are members in the Seattle/Everett area, am I the only one on the East side of the state?  Either way, I'd enjoy getting together with others in the state, either as host or guest.  What does everyone else think?

I agree Dave, It would be more practical to host a get together with our local airgun neighbors.....:) Although I have made many friends on the GTA and really would love to meet you all.. :) But regional get togethers is more feasable as you say.. Maybe we should concentrate on this route of get togethers.. Anyone have suggestions?

I agree local shoots would be better. However I don't think there are many members in my area. I do however have family in the B'ham,Al area, so I could plan a vacation there, then slip off for a day. 8)

I like the regional idea too, with gas going to a predicted $4 a gallon by summer , regional sounds real good. Those guys in Texas make me jealous ; sounded like they had a hoot. My other half finds out tomorrow when her gallbladder surgery is going to be . I think I need to be there for that. Other than that I'm pretty open , just recently (last year)  retired myself .  Thought this might be an inexpensive getaway to meet some folks who have the same sickness I have. Airgun-itious. This has to be an airborne disease , because I've not met anyone with the same symptoms except on the internet. he he he  Maybe I caught it on the internet?   kirby

That way we can see who's close to who.  BTW, Dan, if you make it all the way up here, you won't even have to shoot for that steak, just tell me how big and what kind :-)!  Come on, people, are we going to let the Texas gang have all the fun?  Later.

I'd like to get on that contact list for the next get together with the North Texas airgunners. Here's my email txairgunner@gmail.com
