« on: May 19, 2007, 12:49:34 PM »
I was at work doing my welding thing ,when i heard the crows calling me,paul, paul, paul,,so i loaded up viper and sneaked to door way and in top of tree ,they he was,i made a head shot, and he fell like a rock. Then after i got my B-26 sighted in ,they came back,he was facing me from high above ,so i made a heart shot, again fell like a rock.

Nice shooting, I too have a Viper.  I have a GRT III trigger somewhere in the mail system headed my way, hoped to have by this weekend, but thats the breaks.  I shot 15 blackbirds between friday evening and two short time outings today.  Nothing like a clean shot is there?

Hi Terry, I have a GRT3 on my Viper, that alone, makes the Viper so sweet, but i also like my B-26,only received it last week,it also shoots great, just can,t ever decide which one to take to work with me,so i just rotate them ,i had the B-26 all last week ,so i guest i,ll take viper with me this coming week.
BTW, Is that your call sign, beside your name,if it is mine is n3pj.

You will be happy with your new trigger and Viper will shoot better!

Hello Paul,

Yes, w9trb is my call-sign.  I've been a Ham about 22 or 23 years, can't remember which year I got my Novice.  I was a Short Wave Listener for many years before that. My father had a huge tube set about four feet high in his workshop.  It had a large half-moon glass window, with semi-circles for the different bands and various city names along the semi-circles.  I'd tune around and listen in when I stumbled upon a station.  I didn't have a clue about propagation but I knew the different accents and languages fascinated me. Once bitten by that bug, being a Ham was a foregone conclusion.  It has been a great Hobby and service.  I was home from a triple A surgery right after Katrina and spent many hours monitoring the various nets, in case I could place a call or otherwise be of use.  I was so weak from the surgery I couldn't do much else, but it felt good to try.  I got the Air Rifle bug revived recently and have been having a ball.  My father kept a Benjamin pump .22 in the shop and we shot it from time to time.  Later I got my own .22 pump that had a five shot sliding clip for pellets and took rabbits with that.  Then of course came real .22's and then came a draft number. Long story short and on into adulthood I went...

Paul, what scope are you using on those rifles in the pics?
Is your B26 .177 or .22?
I have a B26 like that in .22, love it!

Good shooting BTW!

The B-26 is .22 cal. ,with the 4X32 scope that came with rifle, the Viper has a 3X9 var. simmons, that has taken many deer with blackpowder and the the scope that came with viper is on M.L.. I made the swap because of the center dot was a little coarse for small game.

What do you think of that scope so far?  I heard from Wallis that they are decent.  Perhaps a mini revue.......hint, hint?

So you actually have the same rifle I do.  What pellet did you tag that crow with?

USNCOP, The 4x32 that came with B-26 ,is actually a better scope than i thought, i purchased b-26 with the non variable to save money to buy a better scope ,but after shooting with this setup, i,m in no hurry now.Everytime i decide on a scope, someone has bad luck with theres,so i can,t decide on a scope right now, mine is working great.

The Viper has a old 3x9 variable that has proven itself many times over with deer. I ,myself just don,t like mil dots ,i like a duplex ,with a fine recticle, for small targets ,like head shots on squirrels and crows ,i need a fine recticle ,with my eyes, and red-dots are out, and i have 2 BSAs red-ots.

The crow with B-26 .22cal. was taken with Gamo hunters, and the Viper crow was taken with Gamo rocket.,but i also use predators,i just happen to grab a rocket, they shoot the same. The only thing i do differant is,i hate to type this but, i use a 1/2 inch reamer,5 flutes at 42degress and very lightly polish the open end of pellet, it smooths the end for a faster air seal ,i will here about weight loss, but i only polish lightly  and not remove to much lead. Wish i owned a chrono, will sometime ,lol.
Thats about it,USNCOP, Happy huntin with your B-26,Paul

Thanks Paul, I was just about to order one from L & M Sports but Wallis closed the store (website) the day I was gonna order.
Maybe he'll bring it back some day.

He said he was hitting targets out to I think 40 yds with his.
What does the reticle look like?
