Just an observation,
« on: May 26, 2007, 01:17:29 PM »
I know that gas prices have tripled in the last few years, because of supposedly, sortage of oil, cut back in production and lack of refineries. If that is the case and I know it goes through a different process, but comes from the same sorce. Why is a quart of oil still the same price?  It's just one of those things that makes me go HUMMM, because it just dosen't add up. What do you think?

Also, half of the motor oil on the market is Recycled...They spin it in a centrifuge to get all the crud out and add all new detergents. Then it's all good again. More of the store branded stuff is like that.

Yeah I know it takes less, but why has gas tripled and it stayed the same. It should have all gone up, or stayed the same, not one without the other.

Politics and Arab Economy..:) Remember gas is what our economy is based on.. For so many years we dictated world economy.. But now that we have helped other countries develope there rescourses they have turned the tables on us.. :) They control our economy with how they set the rate of production of oil and gas.. Makes sense.. because when gas goes up everything else goes up.. It cost more to ship groceries and other products that we use.. They are killing our economy because they now have a hold on probably 75% of the potrolium production..:(   I could go on and on about this subject.. hehe

Hay Mike,

Good eye there, I am not an expert on oil, although I stayed at a Holiday Inn ounce !

I have read ? that gasoline is a by-product in the manufacturing of crude oil into diesel or heating oil.

This is all B.S., controlled by guess who ? our government !

And has any one looked at how much fines those 12,000,000 Mexicans will pay at 5000 dollars a head ? 60 Billion Dollars.

Someone has brought up, probably accurately, that they will excuse those $5k payments based on hardship.  I will be surprised if anyone pays it; it is just to make the bill acceptable to most Americans.  They should all be voted out of office.

Pretty funny, the oil companies saying it is not them, but the lack of refineries that has increased gas prices.  Gee, I wonder who shut down the refineries to drive up gas prices and thereby pull in record profits?  They play us for suckers and we let them.

I thought that the best game they played on us, was when they removed the ADDITIVE (ADDED) LEAD, then charged us more ?

And now the food companies are getting into this by charging more for foods with less (LESS) salt and sugar ?

So, it basicly comes down to legal price gougeing. :0  I have found a grain alcohol stil, that is supposed to be able to make 55-70 gallons a day. The guy that is selling them says he has a `76 Dodge that has run on nothing but grain alcohol since day one. Car makers say that they won't run on corn liquor, but I know better.Grain alcohol burns cleaner and has fewer emissions. I've been thinking about getting a stil and making my own, haven't figured cost per gallon yet, to see if it would be cheaper. The stil is $1700 and uses a hot water heater element for a heat sorce, $15 when it goes out. Any thoughts on this? It is supposed to be easy to get a permit, as long as it is not for sale and not for consumption.

Its been a long time since I have even thought about cars and all the stuff that I used to try..:) But it sounds feasible.. Today's cars do not have the compression ratio that the older ones had so a lower ignition fuel would probably work.. Another great idea Mike..:) As soon as you get it up and running, watch out for saboteurs.. hehe.. Especially an idea like that, that would dip into our economy and especially the Arab economy.. hehe.. I would love to see us go on 100% non petroleum powered combustible engines or even battery powered engines. And you know ever since the 60's the car and petroleum companies have made allot of inventors rich by buying up there better solution for running vehicle that do not use petroleum products.. That's a fact..:)

Here is a link to one of the sites that I looked at awhile back.
http://running_on_alcohol.tripod.com/index.html
Some very interesting reading and if you can make $150 worth of gas for say $75 it wouldn't take long to recoup the cost of the still.

The biggest reason for higher prices here in the states is DEMAND! Even with higher prices we have bought more gas in this country compared to a year ago. The biggest problem is that the feds taxes and state taxes are really hitting our wallets hard.
If our government would just stop bowing to the looney liberal enviromentalist wacko's and started drilling for oil then we would not be in the predicament we are in today. The feds need to grow a spine and just start drilling!

I believe that 90% of the problem is the Oil Companies & it's Execs.... Take a look as Chevron for example. They sit there screamin that there's a shortage, we need to repair pipelines & retrofit our refineries etc etc. Yet last quarter they pocketed $96 BILLION in Net Profeit...Now that's in One Quarter, or....3 MONTHS.

It's price gouging... It's the same EXACT thing that the Energy Commission (NAtural Gas & Electric) got hit up for a few years ago when they found out people were getting charged tripple & quadruple because they weren't the closest ones to the power plants & sub stations.
