Memorial Weekend Bushy Tail
« on: May 28, 2007, 05:13:23 AM »
My buddy has been inviting me over to lower the squirrel population.  He as has plenty of avocado and mango trees and the little bushy tails just love them.  He also has a squirrell highway moving right through his property (POWERLINES).  So needless to say I could barely contain myself when I got there.  He left the keys under the mat this past Friday afternoon and I let myself in. After walking his lab and finding a good spot to camp out for the vermin  I waited and waited, 1 1/2 hour to be exact before seeing any activity.  The wind was gusting pretty hard down in S. Florida this Friday and it either made the squirrels sit tight or tough to locate.  Anyway, the first bushy tail scurried so quickly on the powerline away from me that I never even mounted my trusty RWS 34.  So I get up to stretch a bit and grab a coke.  Well, if it weren't my luck when I was just about to exit the sliding glass doors after grabbing myself a drink  little bushy tails were running around the base of one tree.  Needless, to say they ran off pretty quickly when the dog and I walked out.  Anyway, about 5 mintues later after settling down some movement caught my eye.  I turned to my right and there was the vermin, tail high and broadside to me about 25 yards away on a tree.  I settled the cross hairs right behind her leg as if she were a doe and let the .22 Crow Magnum fly.  A squirrel yelp later I was retrieving the little critter directly from under the spot I shot her.  The Crow Magnum did its job and was lodged opposite of the entry point right below its furry hide.  Ten minutes later my buddy arrived to see the fruits of my labor.  Too bad we didn't see any critters the rest of the afternoon.

Good Shootin Robert,

Nice trophy you have there, and a beautiful Baby also, she looks new.

Very nice photo also. :-)

It might help if you make a few target pellet stops out by were you see the squirrels, there best if made out of cracked corn and nuts. LOL
