Sheridan adapter pics needed

As in title,just bought a CB9 Silverstreak and need to make an adapter to fit a __________ to it could use some pics to give me an idea where to start.Thanks.

Yeah, a sheridan makes quite a bang, especially with the full eight pumps. I've been pondering about this one too, and the only way I can come up with is a mechanism which uses the end cap of the pump tube as additional attachment point. Else your adapter might stress damage the brass barrel itself, which especially on a silverstreak would be a shame. I say it can be done. Most of the stress will be distributed to the much stronger pump tube, and only a small grub screw would be needed for the barrel to hold the adapter in place. Adding a 1/2" UNF thread somewhere would make it compatible with most....erm...whatchamacallit on the market. If I'm really bored, or if it rains so I can't shoot, I'll try and come up with a design in a CAD program. All you need then is someone to make it

Sorry Mark, but the GTA forbids the use of silencers. It is writtten in the GTA rules. Please check out our Office link on top bar for further rules and regulations.

Any discussion regarding silencers is strictly forbidden. Silencers for the most part are illegal in the United States and are either strictly regulated or against the law both Federal as well as many states. Discussing them can lead to cause for investigation for all involved in the discussion as well as your forum. THEY WILL BE DELETED!!!!!

I'm not going to argue with you what I think about this "policy", but I'll offer you free hosting for this forum on a host in Norway if you're concerned about what your (not mine) government would do to it if they actually cared (IMO this is rumour induced paranoia, primarily propagated by the fact all US (airgun) forums don't allow silencer discussion and everyone follows suit). For the rest, I think it's everyone's own responsibility to join or avoid the discussion about silencers, based on what their local laws permit. I do wonder what freedom of speech is worth if something trivial like a padded pipe is to be censored though, but that's your own problem.

I'm in The Netherlands, and silencers are entirely legal here for airguns. Mark is in the UK, same rules apply. Pretending to be an international forum while censoring discussion based on US laws sounds rather odd. There's a few things you can do to fix that, one is moving the forum out of reach of US federales.

I am glad you will not argue with me on this subject.. The GTA rules have been in place since we opened our doors.. It is not a freedom of speech thing, PolarWolf but a matter of respect to all our members here on the GTA.. This subject has thousands of different views from all over. There are laws that prohibit silencers  that are not part of the barrel, that can be removed etc etc. I do not argue with that. We do not want to bring attention to the GTA with this subject and have the Government watching us or come in and taking our hobby and sport away from us.. By not allowing the subject of silencer or silencers in our forum then the subject is null and our members are protected from any trouble from breaking any laws. This does not mean you cannot discuss this subject amongst yourselves. Just not on the GTA..

Everyone has an opinion PolarWolf and all opinions are welcome, but you have to remember that the rules were set before we opened our doors here on the GTA. If everyone would read them then we would not have this discussion at all. And I think you are a bit harsh, saying that I as a forum owner arbitrarily censor posts out of what you call irrational fear from something that has never happened......... The rules have been set and they were set prior to the GTA opening its doors.. It seems that you are the first person on the GTA that wants to argue this subject but there is really no argument at all, because if you had read the rules as most of our members have, then you would understand.. One of the reasons for the GTA opening was to give members a place that they feel comfortable about learning from each other without being called disrespectful and irrational.. If one needs to know how to make a silencer, I am sure there are many other places on the internet that they can find the resources to do so, but you will not find it on the GTA...

Gene is right. Rules have been set, and have been since the beginning.

This may sound a little Paranoid, but:

The main reasons why there is to be no Silencer talk is because of Liability. Here in the US, "Silencers, Moderators, Suppressors" are for the most part Illegal unless the person that has one lives in a state that allows them. Most states DON'T. The ones that DO, require them to be registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms and a Tax to be paid.  Manufacture of silencers is also illegal unless you go through the lengthy process of getting the ATF to sign off & pay the applicable "Manufacturing Tax" .

Now I understand that Information is not illegal, but if someone were to come on here & got the plan to build a silencer from someone who has posted theirs, gets caught using it and says "Hey, I made this from what I found over a GTA" the ATF would shut the site down no question about it.

There's also the matter of "U.S. Homeland Security"  They DO monitor things like these forums for this sort of activity. No, they might not shut the site down, but based on the information they find... They have the ability AND the right to find out just WHO the person posting is and end up going to his/her house and arresting them for use or manufacture of "Impliments of Terror" or whatever they call it. They've already done it with phone calls and have also made statements that they're Monitoring the Web.

IMHO It's better to simply not take the risk.

I've read the rules, don't worry. But you as owner/administrator have instated those rules on behalf of us members (that's what I understand from your reply anyway), without seeking consent from us as members. The only way to influence these rules which are apparently made for us, but not with us is after the fact. If I see a rule which I don't agree with, I don't shy away from question its validity. You as an administrator/owner have of course the last say in these rules, but then please don't pretend these rules to be there for us, by us, and this forum to be for everything and everyone. Clearly it's not. And that's fine, but at least be honest about it. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's hypocrisy.

But anyway, I don't have the illusion I can make my point clear enough to make people see how foolish this whole censorship of this single issue is. All I can hope for is that I've made some people think about what it means, and then I point my finger at all people from the US of A.

Seriously, that was very humorous to me only because I agree.

These guys aren't gonna budge on this one PolarWolf.  Even though you aren't a native to this country our government gives us enough of a dose of fear on a regular basis that even discussions by foreigners on the web site about things that are legal in their country cause concerns.

We can't help it over here.  We're conditioned that way.

The question or statement about being disrespectful and arbitrary censorship regarding the forum is not the issue. It’s a matter of the laws in this country and those laws are both local and federal and the federal laws take precedence, and those laws are pretty clear and strictly enforced. The laws in other countries do not apply here and for someone from another country to come to our forums in the US and take issue of them and interpret them to their liking won’t work or happen. We may not like the law but it is the law.

It is the responsibility of individuals in this country to either join or avoid those discussions regarding silencers on a public venue but it won’t be here where it may draw attention and cause issues on our forum.

And as far as not having happened yet regarding the law, you are wrong my friend. It has happened many times and just a year or so ago someone was prosecuted, fined and sentenced to a term in prison for violating the ATF silencer laws. And it just so happened that this involved not firearms but an airgun and it was a direct result of an open forum discussion. It is against the law to even have one in your possession let alone on a gun. So please don’t mislead the people of the forums or entice them to disregard the laws of our land.

I don't think this particular rule was on behalf of the members etc... I believe it's more for the protection of the owner and server operator. They really don't have that much control over that gets said here (well, they do...But that's another story) and if things ever go south, the owner & operators can also be held liable.

I understand and AGREE with you 100% on censorship. BUT, this being a privatly owned forum the owner can do what he/she pleases with it. It's like someone comming into YOUR house and doing what they want. Just not possible.

Fingers get point and other fingers get pointed back...It happens. We're trying as hard as we can to fix the country, but there's too many Sheeple. Once the rest of the nation gets their heads outta their butts, then maybe we can make better progress.
