Afternoon Shadows
« on: June 09, 2007, 09:17:37 AM »
After spending most of the morning in my shop camo painting, working on( Gordon SC) B3 stock I decided to take a break and do a little hunting . I hadn't had the ShadowSport out in awhile and she was itchin to get something. So over the fence and out to the grove of tree's I went with the Shadow and a tin of Gamo Pro Magnums. Well I got there and found myself a nice hide to relaxe in, an old deadfall and scanned the area for movement. To my surprize  something had spotted me, sitting on a downed log at about twenty yrds was a squirrel munching on a nut and eyeballing me. Ever so slowly I layed the Shadow across the log, magnum loaded already and placed the crosshair's on his mug. At this point all I could see was a nut with a small head behind it, hoping the pellet will pass through I let it fly. I watched through the scope as the nut blew apart and the squirrel fell  down on the other side of the log hmmm. I stood up and loaded another pellet and headed over to where he should be and as I peered over the log there he was. The pellet had entered just to the left side of his head and he still had a small chunk of nut in his mouth. I plucked up my game and headed home, he now rest in my icebox cleaned and ready for a Sunday lunch. Ed

Good shootin buddy, nice lookin lunch  :)

I gotta try some of those pellets.  That's pretty impressive if it blasted through the nut and still took out "skippy".

Thank's Jeff, The Pro Mag's look like a Gamo Hunter pellet except the dome is longer and so far they work great in the ShadowSport, QB78 and both of my B3's like em. Ed

I look at them every time I order pellets, I just never order them.  Next time I will definitely add them to my "basket".  They've always looked to me like they should fly well.  I know that's not "scientific" but they just look like they should.  They sorta kinda remind me of "kodiaks" a bit, and I know the kodiaks perform super in my .22 magnum powered springers.

Jeff if ya get em from pyramid air (the gamo pro mags) you also get this snazzy little belt pellet pouch. I have used my pellet pouch and I kind of like it. Thumbs up for the nutter kill Ed, wish there was more prey to hunt in my back yard but it seems the local wildlife has posted a wanted picture up in the neighborhood with my mug on it. Saying something about staying away from this dude's backyard cause a lot of friends have gone into it but not come out hehe.

Great going there Ed,

I never thought of stuffing a squirrel nuts before baking. I'll bet it gives them a good taste !

You guys up north have such cooperative squirrels to hunt. Down here they just run and hide. :-)
