Your welcome Bob. I didn't realize how bad haveing to concentrate on that bandaid was affecting my accuracy, until now. I have a 1" fender washer screwed to a 2x8 set at 55yrds, with the head of the screw about 1/4" out, so that the washer will dance around when hit. Before I would hit it maybe 1 out of 5 times, I was shooting earlier and decided to take a few shots at it, 4 out of 5, BIG improvement, I'm real happy now.

With this being my first post, I want to be honest and helpful. I have never used CDT's trigger but from all accounts it sounds great. I have two of Richs inserts and all is well (after close to 2000 in the hunter 220 and maybe 3000 in the shadow). Did you check if the spring slipped on the sear, Mike?  Mine did that once but after some tinkering with the spring everything works fine. Thanks for the warning though.

With all respect to Mike and Charlie (who's trigger is no doubt excellent), I have a Rich from Mich short stroke mod. in my Gamo CFX.

Apart from the fact that it works very well, surely IF IT IS CORRECTLY ASSEMBLED AND ADJUSTED, THE INSERT DOES NOT APPLY ANY PRESSURE AT ALL TO THE SEAR WITH THE TRIGGER AT REST and so the insert, by itself, could not cause a self release. The sear assy. would (or should) be in the same position and setting as the standard single stage Gamo trigger with the Gamo adjusting screw slacked off and the trigger pulled forward to  rest position by the heavy Gamo return spring.

I have mine set with about 1/64" or less totally free play, where the trigger and insert do not touch the sear. My first stage is then about 3/16". Second stage less, but not measured.

This is a good forum. Don't let's have it drop to the level of the Yellow.
 
Because some guys will be influenced by price, others by aesthetics, surely there is room for more than one mod. in the market place. Both mods. will serve to make Gamos more popular, to everyone's benefit.

Derek, glad to know that you are enjoying yours and have had no problems,yet, just be aware that it could happen. Mine was adjusted with a hair more than 1/64th freeplay and would not adjust to less than 1/2" on 1st stage. The insert that I had, had alittle slack inside the blade. Could have been a large blade, or small insert, don't know, but it would rock back and forth slightly. I think that with that little bit of movement, that over a few thousand shots, it had gotten some wear and that's what caused the problem. I think that it would hang up and it would be just like the screw was turned in too far. Which would cause it to fire, when the safety was released, or barely touching trigger. I think it is a good mod, just needs some more work, like made out of metal, or epoxied in place so that it can't move and wear.
There's always room for more than 1 mod. I don't think you have to worry about this becomeing like the yellow. We have a great bunch of guy's and gal's here, that enjoy this sport and learning from each other.

Fair enough Mike, that's a logical possibility. Your first post came across as a slag on the other insert, not having the detailed explanation.

There was alot that was left out. I just touched on the main aspects. I am going to put it in my inlaws rifle and see if it has the same slack in it, or if it is tighter. Did yours have any slack in it when installed? I now have about 350 shots with the new trigger and all is well, so far. So it couldn't have been any polishing that I did, to make it alittle sloppy, as per instructions.

No slack on mine Mike; it just went straight in. I de-burred all the trigger blade, housing  etc. and made everything 100% free, but not sloppy. I bent the lower sear spring as suggested by Rick to add a little weight to the trigger and that's all. Maybe you were unlucky and got a bad one? Honestly, after about 1500 rounds it's the same as at round 1 on mine.

Wouldn't be the fist time I was unlucky. It was between 1500-2000 shots, when mine started messing up, so keep an eye on it, but hopefully you won't have any problems.
