Well Ayche, I've dropped PrairieDogs at 40 to 45yrds, rabbit's also with my ShadowSport .177. Now I've also dropped the same with my Gamo Hunter 220.22 at 40 yrd's. Past that alot depend's on shooter's ability to place the pellet in the kill zone but it's best to stay in the 40yrd zone. Just my two cent's. :)

Varying opinions are great John. I am not too much into the wood stocks of the B26 though.

I have not owned other Gamos, but have shot a few and considered buying several...I still may. As you can see in my signature block I own a fair smattering of other springers, so I'm pretty familiar with the gammut.

The CFX, to me, is by far the best out of the box Gamo. Yes, it's a little twangy,ALL springers are, to one degree or another. Yes it has the Gamo trigger, not unshootable out of the box, and easily remedied with CDTs trigger. But, I think its combination of features and inherent accuracy are better than the break barrel Gamos, most other low to mid priced break barrels at that.

The CFX is the  first, and so far, only underlever I have owned. I find the rotary breach block very easy to use and wouldn't see it as a problem for a left handed shooter. The comb on the monte carlo stock is ambidexterous, the same on both sides. You don't see that on most stocks. So, I think it would be one of the better choices for a lefty.

As far as I know, Pryamid is the only dealer offering the .22 CFX so far.

For the money, it is one of the best air rifles I have bought. This is why I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Rags, I am left handed, and I just drop the muzzle and keep holding the handgrip with my left hand, thumb the rotary block over, grab  the stock at the balance point in front of the trigger with my right hand, position the rifle slightly down from level, then  load a pellet with my free left hand (fingernail it into the barrel, skirt flush with barrel),  reverse my grip again, and thumb the rotary block back over again with my right thumb.  Safety on before all this, of course!.

An ambidextrous person could probably load the pellet with their right hand too, but mine is useless, so have to switch grips.  I've become quite fast and good at it.

If there is a simpler method to load for we lefties, I'd like to hear about it!

Shadow, what kind of distance will a .177 go effectively to get let's say a rabbit versus a .22? A .177 has a flatter trajectory correct?

After reading all the replies, I guess what it comes down to is that for the most part, it simply depends on what features I want, as all the Gamo's I am looking at have the same set up other than the breech loading of the CFX, and all are somewhat the same as far as internals.

What I suppose the question I need to answer now is .117 or .22

Is Pyramyd the only place to get the .22 CFX?.

I'm not Shadow, but I'll take a wack at your question regarding maximum effective range.

Flat trajectory isn't just a function of caliber.  In fact, it really is a function of starting velocity and the ballistic coeffecient (BC) of the pellets.

In the typical Shadow, using pellets with a ballistic coeffecient of .026 or higher will yeild a maximum point-blank range of 50 yards.  In other words, you can sight in so that you can simply center the crosshairs on the KZ of a rabbit from a few feet to the fifty yard line and you'll be assured to score.

In my humble opinion, If I were left handed, I would never buy a new, full price, air-gun that was hard to use for a left handed person. Be sure you are comfortable with the gun, or you won't be able to shoot as accurately as you really can.

Sorry I cant be of much help with anything else, I only have 1 air-gun, a Hunter 220 combo, and I am rather new to these kind of guns.

It's no problem being lefty with the rotary breech; actually I load the pellets with my right hand. That is good advice though Randino about not buying full price factoring in it being difficult to load for the lefties. I actually just loaded and shot a few using my left hand and it wasn't too bad. The CFX does facilitate righty loading a bit more due to the rotary "lever", when the breech is open the lever is on the left side and somewhat in the way.

JP, where would I find the ballistic coefficient of a pellet?

There's pellet weight. Ultimately, trajectory is dependent on flight time. The longer the time, the greater the drop.
