New Gamo CFX in .22
« on: June 17, 2007, 12:20:42 PM »
Just new to air rifles.  Can't afford the cost of Beeman's, had to settle for $200.00 Gamo. Gun arrived yesterday and just had to shoot it. Well it shoots. That is if you can pull the trigger. I think I've felt better triggers on Red Riders. Surely people can't call this acceptable. I've spent most of today searching the net for help. Landed on the site http://www.charliedatuna.com. Maybe he has the solution in the trigger upgrade. Any advise appreciated.

Hi David,

I am new to adult airguns as well. I started a thread "Hello; Which Gamo". Right now it's a few posts below yours. I had some questions and a handful of pretty experienced air gunners replied recommending the GRT trigger.

David, I couldn't believe that clown of a trigger on an otherwise good rifle.  The most important part of the rifle/human interface, and it just stinks! CDT should have my MO by now, and maybe a trigger will arrive shortly, but meanwhile, I've got to sort a cocking/spring issue that just surfaced.

Most of the reviews I read only damned the trigger with faint praise, or mentioned it could be improved a bit, instead of telling it like it is! The absolute worst trigger mechanism on a decent rifle they've ever seen! HIHO! I couldn't adjust it to suit me!

It is really a powerful, accurate rifle, as you now know.  good purchase.

Welcome to the forums David and congrats on the new shooter.  I received my new CFX .22 about a week and 1/2 ago, just prior to going away on vacation so I haven't even gotten to shoot it yet.  Now that I'm finally back home one of the first things I"m gonna do is order one of CDT's triggers for the CFX.  Like the others have said, those triggers are a pure dream.

I sent the money yesterday. Been reading the instructions for install. Doesn't sound like its too complicated or time consuming.
Have been shooting after work each day and can only achive 1 1/2" groups at 25 yards. I'll get about 80% of my shots under 1" but always a couple strays. I blame this on poor trigger feel and about 6# pull. I don't like a heavy trigger, not even on a centerfire.

You only made one mistake by ordering "Charly's" triger.....
You should have ordered at least 3,That way you have 2 on hand for the next new babies.
   You CAN't go wrong.
