We charge $60 an hour as the shop rate. Employees start at $10 for apprentice up to $25 in some shops. I'm fully qualified in the Briggs & Stratton Master Service Technician course which is the top course here and not even near the best pay that I could get. Thats what happens when you work in a small shop. Will hopefully own it soon and give myself a pay rise. HEHE

I was an electrician before my back went out. I was just about to go into business for myself. The guy I was working for was helping me out, because he knew that he could not pay me enough, for what I was bringing in. He started paying me by the square foot per job, instead of by the hour. My wife thought that I was crasy to do that, until she saw that I was making double, as far as she knew, hehe. But since my back went out, I've had to sell 3 of my boats, fixing to have to sell 1 of my trucks+ who knows what else. I just keep telling myself things will get better, I hope.

Hey Andre,

When you own the shop, you have what's left over after all the bills are paid, and all the parts are ordered ! Taxes/ rent, gas, electric, insurance, water, sewer, and after all of your employees are paid. Some weeks you eat the Bear, and Some weeks the bear eats YOU !

On a good week, it's GREAT, on a bad one ;^(
