Wow !!! That is bad. A friend of mine surprized a skunk while taking some trash out in the evening, and got sprayed - mostly on his clothes, but caught some in the face. He removed all his clothing before going back into the house to try to wash up. He became violently ill, and his face was breaking out into an ugly red rash, so he was rushed to hospital, where he was tended to. He recovered, but to this day, is absolutely terrified of skunks.
Closest I ever came to actually getting "skunked" was while deer hunting, years ago. I was about 15ft up a tree, on a tree stand, and I notice some movement at the base of the tree - a skunk. I didn't know if they could spray up, but I did know that they could spray up to 15 ft, so I stayed as still and quiet as I could for what seemed an eternity, until he finally wandered off. My lucky day - lol.
